Brilliant
Works brilliantly, just plugged in, worked straight away, great sound quality. Used to connect record deck and cassette to soundbar.

Really very good
The headphone output on my Philips TV stopped working, and a warranty repair would have left me without a TV for about a month, which obviously would have been utterly unbearable.Fortunately, this little gizmo solved the problem. It connects to the optical-out of the TV, so all you have to do is plug in your headphones and mute the TV's internal speakers. This one has volume control, which is recommended - I bought one without volume control and the default output was just a little too high. And the quality is noticeably better than the built-in headphone port; it's crisp and detailed, and dialogue, music, and sound effects never overpower each other. The only downside is that this reminds me of watching TV in the 80s (yes, I'm that old), before remote controls were a thing, and you'd have to get out of your seat to adjust the volume. I sit pretty close to the TV anyway (it makes it seem bigger and helps my failing, elderly eyes) so it's not a problem. It's also very lightweight, so it will move around unless it's properly anchored somewhere. But this is a really nice little upgrade otherwise.

Good, Basic Converter - Great for Modern Soundbars
Like many, I've recently swapped my traditional hifi set up for the convenience with a soundbar. Unfortunately, my new soundbar has no RCA or 3.5mm input, just an optical in, hence the need to purchase this adapter.Firstly, to get the most out of this, you really do need to buy some separate adapters. For example, my record player has male RCA leads so needed a male-to-male adapter, and my echo dot and cassette player has a 3.5mm output so another adapter was needed for that. It's a shame they are not included in the box - I'd happy have paid a bit more to save the hassle.Upon connecting everything up, I was pleased that it worked perfectly first time. I'm no audiophile but sound quality seemed about the same as before, albeit with a slight kiss during breaks in the music. The leads and connectors seem good quality. If it wasn't clear from the description, you do need to plug the adapter into a USB power source. Luckily my sound bar has a powered USB port. The only niggle I have with this is that there doesn't seem to be any power saving or auto-off. Therefore, my soundbar never goes into standby whilst this is plugged in so I'm in theory wasting 140W in power even though its not in use. The work around is to change sources or unplug the adapter from the optical socket.Apart from a few minor niggles, the adapter is perfectly good and east to use.

Probably OK but didn't work for me.
Small and well built. No software needed, just a source 3.5mm socket and spare USB port to power the unit.Didn't work for me on HP pc and LG soundbar for some reason. Didn't have any other kit to try to see if it was the unit or my own setup.Returned for refund.

Works well
Easy to install but two things to know. Firstly the power lead needs connecting which is no altogether clear. I used a USB port on the TV for this. Secondly the volume dial on the device needed to be turned up full. It has been installed and working for a few weeks now
