Great value!
Ok so for $16 this is actually a pretty nice daypack and a great value. I will update my review if something fails later on but so far it seems really nice upon opening it. It is well constructed/sturdy and has a lot of the same features u find in more expensive hiking packs. I bought it for my 8 yo daughter to use when we go hiking but it is an adult sized pack and so it didn’t fit her correctly to use it for backpacking, but she likes the colors of it so she can still definitely use it when she goes back to school and I think it will be good to keep the chrome book in it from the school. I love all the different pockets to keep it organized, and the fact it has hip belt (w pockets) load lightener straps, chest buckle, and a spiffy nice quality (safety orange!) rain cover. Two things I noticed that are not a super big deal but if I had paid more I’d be annoyed: first, the whistle doesn’t work. I think the air hole is too big so it doesn’t make an actual whistle noise? Also the water bladder compartment does not have a hanging strap to keep a bladder upright, which means this will only really work as a laptop bag and not good for a water bladder. Overall still a good value!

OUTAD 38L Hiking Backpack, good value for the price.
Overall this is proving to be a very good backpack for anyone doing day hikes or even needing to carry a lot of items for a trip to the amusement park, Disney World, etc. For background I do a lot of day hiking in the summer with my kids. We typically hike locations where we’ll come across some place to swim such as a large stream, lake, waterfall, etc. With that we typically need to carry a good amount of stuff and Dad is usually the one bearing the brunt of this task.Prior to buying this my go to backpack was a 36L tactical molle assault pack so I will make some comparisons between the two.My typical loadout for a hike consists of 3 towels, 3 pairs of water shoes change of clothes for 3, water and food for 3. It usually requires 2 backpacks of this size. The overall quality of the OUTAD backpack is very good. The material is light and during the first trip feels like it will hold up well. Like most backpacks these days I am not sure why manufacturers don’t spend the extra money on YKK zippers as they’ve proven to be the better option over the long haul. Mind you there is nothing wrong with the zippers on this backpack but you can tell they are not YKK but they work fine.It has a nice amount of pockets, 8 total including the water bottle holders. This makes it very convenient for storing and separating various items like small flashlights, knives/multi-tools, first aid items, etc. A really great feature is the zippered pockets on the waist belt. There are 2 that measure about 6” x 4” and at their widest are 2” deep. They are sort of rounded depth wise but again this is perfect for items you need quick access to without removing the pack such as a flashlight, knife compass or even a short length of paracord.Inside the smaller pockets on the back there is your standard pouch for a couple of pens and a 2-tiered document compartment. So all-in-all lots of little pockets and compartments to keep your stuff organized and easily accessed. There is also a compartment on the bottom that houses the rain cover. I am not sure I like this location but it works and worst case I can take the rain cover out and put it in a different pocket so no big deal there. The two side pockets for water bottles are what you would expect. Mess pocket with elastic top and the do well with keeping the water bottles in place, they are about 6” deep. The suspension system is a great feature and works great. This is a feature missing on my molle pack. It provides a bit of airflow so you’re not dealing with a consistently wet back from sweating during summer hikes. Fully packed it gives about 1-2” of space for airflow between my back and the backpack.I did not use the hydration bladder port as I never use these systems but it looks pretty standard based on other backpacks I have. For my first use I was able to fit 3 towels, 3 pairs of water shoes, 2 water bottles and a change of clothes for 2 kids. This is about what I would have expected based on my other backpacks. I do think the measurements listed when I bought this backpack are a bit conservative. I took some quick measurements and I got (Height x Width x Depth) 20” x 11.5 x 7”.I would recommend this backpack for regular use in day and short backpacking/camping/fishing trips. I believe this backpack will hold up to normal use and will update this review if my opinion changes over prolonged use.

Experienced hiker suggesting your get this pack.
Sorry it took so long to get this review up. I got this pack to take camping and hiking. I am very picky about my hiking packs. As a former US Army light infantryman I have walked miles and miles with a pack on my back, and I am intimately aware of how destructive a back pack, or poor pack position can destroy your back. That being said, I recommend this pack to anyone. It lays enough weight on your hips to keep from compacting your spine, which is a sure way to end a trip quickly. A part of the reason it took so long to write this review is that I wanted to test its weather tolerance. I spray everything I have with scotch guard and with that this pack kept my clothes nice and dry on an over night trip. (no simple feat to find rain in this drought.)There is plenty of room in this pack to take a few replacement sets of clothes, plenty of room for spare sock, and it can convert to a regular backpack if need be when you are going to run down to the mall.another nice feature is the fact that there is room for your electronics and internal storage to keep stuff dry and functional. We all know smart phones are great for GPS but hate rain.Photos to come soon.

Best of luck selling to other customers
I bought this bag in March. My low rating comes for one reason only. I noticed in June that the bottom "corner" was starting to fray. The heaviest item that ever goes inside is my laptop which weights a whooping 6 pounds. I wouldn't think that would be too stressful for an item that is meant to carry my things. Other items inside the backpack included serval ounces of paper and some pencils. That is it. It is now September and the fray has turned into a small hole. I didn't give it one star because I do have to commend the bag for living up to the waterproof claim. My items (namely the laptop) never had a single drop of water touch them. Mind you, I do live in Florida, so the rain has met this bag numerous times. I've even gone as far as holding it over my head to protect myself from heavy rain and the items inside stayed dry. Unfortunately for me, I am stopping by to leave this review because I am purchasing a different backpack as I type this review. Best of luck selling to other customers, OUTAD.

Sturdy, durable, comfortable you cant beat this deal!!
Amazing I just got back from a backpacking trip in Southeast Asia with this backpack as my main bag. I have the Black/Gray 55L+5L bag I had no issues with TSA/Airport Security and I was super comfortable and the mess back made it very breathable. It does have a Hip belt and there is a closeable barrier between the main compartment and the bottom one which made it easier to keep organized. I never used it with the frame out but taking it in and out was super easy. I didn't have any straps or buckles break my whole trip and the people I was with definitely cant say the same about there bags so it was very sturdy and durable. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this bag, so order yourself one and enjoy it!!
