Excellent in every way
I don't see how you could beat these for emergency candles to keep in your car. They even come with a pack of matches. Yes that "maximum" burn time listed would just be for one single candle lit, but IF you need these to keep your car a bit warmer to survive inside while waiting to be rescued on a snowy night, I doubt you will be burning just one, you'll have all three lit. So my advice is to get two of these, or even three. Then you can have peace of mind and not have to "ration" the lone candle use. In a bad situation these could save your life so well worth the price, and the tins will keep them safely stowed away.

Does its job
It works well giving decent light and lasting about as long as it says.

Practical Product
I used it to heat up a small bathroom that doesn't have heat or an electric outlet. Leave it on for a few minutes and it helps.

Excellent Emergency Equipment
Excellent emergency equipment. The three wicks give you flexibility to burn one wick for minimal light and heat that they claim will last 36 hours, or up to three wicks for corresponding more heat and light and would last 12 hours, or any combination in between depending on your need. That versatility and length would be very useful in a blackout, car stranding, camping, etc. I don't think it is any special wax, just a normal candle wax in a designed three wick case. The instructions say that if you are burning one wick you should switch wicks every 3 hours, probably so that the wax will melt more evenly and prevent big differences in wax height which would mess up burning the other wicks. It is an oderless wax candle in a round aluminum tin (4.0" around, 1 5/16" tall). Mine weighed 7.3 oz although the label said it was net weight 6 oz. The container is a good tin and very water resistant, but could leak some with submersion.I rated it only four stars because mine came without the promised matches. Once I could get hold of a standard book of matches, it fit easily inbetween the wicks and the closed lid. Great idea to put matches in there as one less worry in an emergency.

Seems great
Seems great and even comes with matches. It’s a plus that one or three wicks can be used. These are part of emergency car kits I made for folks I love.

and I like the container very much
This candle is solid, and I like the container very much. The name "36 hour candle" is slightly misleading, as it states on the box that "each wick is good for 12 hours", so you can get a total of 36 hours from the candle, if you burn only one wick at a time. So, full burn (all three wicks) for 12 hours total. A little misleading. The container is very solid, except the top seats loosely. To look at the design, it is reminiscent of a larger shoe-polish tin. Those tend to fit VERY snugly- which is good, and precisely what I was looking for in a "survival candle".But the lid fits kind of loose, and comes off a little too easily.I keep a lot of big rubber bands around, set one around the closed candle- good to go.So, fair product, definitely a good thing for camping or emergency kit; not quite what I had hoped for. Thus, three stars, instead of better.

Great emergency candle
I bought a few of these during last hurricane season. Just came online now to restock for this year. These work GREAT! They burn quietly and barely has an order. Three wicks makes for a very bright candle and they last a couple of hours. Also, because of the 3 wicks, this guy gives off alot of heat. I also boiled a cup of water for some soup within 10-12 minutes (rolling boil). These aren't tiny by they are compact. I like to stack about 15 of those in the closet just in case. Knock out two tasks with one purchase. Great for lighting and great for cooking small meals.
