Impressive little washer - perfect for my apartment!
Let me preface by saying I'm not one to write reviews, but this little wonder deserves it. After moving into the upper level of an old duplex with no laundry capabilities, I was determined to find a convenient at-home alternative to a laundromat. I came across this product, and decided to try it. My first shipment came and unfortunately the unit had been damaged; the box had been punctured which impacted the base and cracked all the way into the inner washing drum, rendering it useless. I contacted the seller, sent pictures of what had happened, and they immediately sent a replacement out to me (thanks much, great service!).I tried out my new unit and was blown away by its performance! It works perfectly in my space! There are a few small learning curves (set up, how much detergent to use, etc) and the instructions aren't overly clear, but after reading a few answers posted here and some trial & error, this machine proved to be exactly what I needed. There supposedly is a water level indicator on the unit, but after searching everywhere, I couldn't find it (that's my only minor complaint, but it in no way impacts the performance). Instead I simply filled up the washer until my clothes were completely submerged. I set it up in my bathroom alongside my tub and sink; I hooked up the hose to my sink for water and put the drain hose in my tub. A word to the wise: your tub will get a little gunky after draining but a quick wipe down while everything is still damp will take care of it. A lint catcher plus some old panty hose attached to the drain hose will help this a lot. One item you may need to get is a lint catcher to pop in the wash; it'll help catch excess lint that might otherwise end up on your clothes. What impressed me the most, however, was the spin dryer - it really gets the water out! I was amazed at how mostly dry my clothes were after only a few minutes in the spinner (granted, this works better on smaller clothes than it does on thicker clothes). If you're in a place without laundry, I highly recommend this product to get for your home. It's compact and convenient, and gets the job done. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and experience, thank you Della for making laundry life a lot easier!**A note - I'm actually posting this review after having used this washer for 3 years, and it's still working great!

I absolutely love this machine!
When my regular washing machine broke, I couldn't afford to buy a new one at the time so I ended up ordering a Della portable machine and I will never go back to regular machines again. You have to keep in mind that it is not designed for large or heavy loads but the Della does an excellent job of washing all the clothes and linens every week for a family of 3. I have had it for over a year now and the biggest issue is that the spinner is a little frustrating to use because with certain items, you have to fuss around with it to get it to spin without banging against the side and making a horrible noise. We don't spin dry anything larger than a large bath towel and we only put the spinner on for less than a minute to save on wear and tear because I am sure that the spinner will be the first thing to break. Then, everything goes outside to hang-dry, and, even in the winter - which is actually pretty mild here in central California - most items will dry within a day, or sooner if the wind is blowing. The spinner really is pretty flimsy but for the cost of the machine and just a little bit of effort on our part to baby the machine, it has lasted longer than I expected and far exceeded its value. In fact, I was here today on my Amazon account preparing to order another Della to have on hand before my current one bites the dust but I am saddened to see it in my wish list with a note saying that it currently is not available. :-( I really hope they become available again soon.Another slightly annoying thing about the Della (and apparently it's a common thing among portable washers...at least the cheap ones) is that the intake and drain hoses are pretty cheesy and don't fit any of my household faucets. I have my Della sitting beside my bathtub with the drain hose draped over the bathtub. I just have to make sure it is nicely settled into the tub before draining or the hose will fall out and sling water all over the bathroom. Wheeeee! Also, since the intake hose doesn't fit our faucets, we just fill it up with a bucket. We were using a garden hose that we fed through the house from outside but it's just easier to deal with a bucket, and we get a good workout while doing our weekly laundry. :-) Also, between the drain hose slinging water and water slopping out of the bucket as we pour it into the machine, the bathroom floor does get pretty wet but we just roll with it and make Bathroom Cleaning Day the same day as Laundry Day. Eventually, I would like to figure out a way to have the water drain outside into my garden because the gray water is supposed to be really good for plants but for now, the machine is working really well in the bathroom and I am really happy with it.Oh, and if you have cats, they like to sit on top but their weight is too heavy for the lids and the one over the spinner cracked in no time from the cats jumping on it but it is only a cosmetic thing and doesn't affect the function of the machine. I did have a couple of cats jump up when they didn't realize the lid was open and they took a little swim in the water but other than losing a little pride, they were fine once they licked themselves dry, and it only took each one once to learn to check to see if the lid is closed before jumping up. LOLSo, I am very happy with my Della portable washing machine and I really hope they become available again so that I can stick with what I know and not have to try out a different brand. Amazon, please bring back the Dellas! (Hopefully before my current one breaks. :-P)
