Works for BES870XL
New solenoid valve is making lattes more delicious than even when the machine was brand new, working perfectly!I was having issues with my Barista Express after 4 - 5 years of daily use. My steam pressure was weak, water would leak from grouphead and hit water valves, pre infusion of puck caused water to flow into drip tray, shots would have no pressure and water would flood drip tray, etc.I almost returned this product because I saw it was a "frequently returned" item and the first time I installed it all the water was coming from the grouphead only, steam and hit water all came from grouphead only. Turns out the tube on the bottom is non-reversable, there's a right way and a wrong way to install it. In my case the number 2 is on the left side and 1 is one the front, and the metal ring clip thing that holds the tubing to the block should be oriented the same as the 2 way solenoid valve to the left.Frothing performance, and brew quality are so much better now it's like I got a new machine. I will update this review if anything is amiss down the road that I missed but I think my problems are solved

Faulty 3 way solenoid
The media could not be loaded. First of all, it came with a bent ground pin. This is not an issue, I just straightened it out with pliers. The main problem, however, is that the spring in it seems to be not working properly. The solenoid directs the output to the group head for espresso extraction when it's energized, and when it's not energized, a spring pushes the block down and it directs the output to the steam wand/hot water. However, when I'm trying to get steam or hot water, steam or hot water come out of the group head. This indicates that the spring isn't pushing down the block as intended. Very disappointing considering the high cost of the part.On the bright side, it fits well in the Breville Barista Express. Making espresso still works as intended.

Started leaking after 6 months
Bought in May 2024. Worked well for about 6 months. Then, the machine again started causing GFCI trip. Upon opening the machine, I saw the non-serviceable connection between the black block and bottom white pipe had residue from leaks. I really hoped that the replacement would last several years.

Restored my Breville Barista BES870XL
Replacement is not that hard, once you locate all the hidden screws to remove the covers. I watched a few youtube video's, mostly to see where the screws were located and what was the minimal work required. The part is an exact replacement of the original one. Even better it comes with the lower tubing already connected, making it very easy to install. It has about 100 expresso's use since installing it, no issues.

It was easy to replace the solenoid coil. Machine works again. GFCI does not trip anymore.
My Breville espresso machine started to trip the GFCI. I tried two other GFCI and it kept tripping. After diagnosing that the 3-way valve was causing the problem (no GFCI tripping when unplugged), I purchased this valve. I only replaced the coil which was easy. (I also replaced the little o-ring purchased from someone else, since my hunch is that stem had leaked out causing the solenoid coil to shorten out when 110 V was applied. With a volt meter, the solenoid tested just fine, no ground short, proper resistance. Still it tripped the GFCI.) The coffee is flowing again!

Sent a used and damaged part
The external shipping packaging was fine but the product packaging was a heavyweight plastic bag that had signs of wear indicating this part was “well traveled” (see photo). The part itself was also damaged with bent pins. Although I dont know for sure this was likely a used part sent out multiple times and not worth the effort to install it in my espresso machine because if others tried it and returned it then it would most likely not work. I returned it.
