Best Adult Coloring Crayon on the Market
I love these art bars. They are far better than the ones their competitor puts on the market. They are water-soluble and the pigments are so outstanding. I am using these bars not only in Adult Coloring books but also in Mixed Media art as well. Derwent is known for quality. I have purchased many products from them and will continue to do so. So far, I have not found a product I dislike.

don't like them!!
I really don't like these. They were recommended by a friend, but I don't know why she liked them. They break easily, the colors are either too dark or too light. They are not as watersoluabe as they claim to be and look crappy. They're thin and washed out looking, as well as being splotchy. They act a lot like Derwent watercolor pencils which I also dislike. I'm sorry I wasted my money on them.

Very Disappointed in this item
Very Disappointed in this item. the colors are too waxy that they don't blend well at all. I purchased to use instead of water colors but the washes are not at all what i thought they would be. I wish i had instead spent the money on the Caran D Arche set.. clear and bright and perfect when used with water.

The 12 set is not entirely duplicated in the 24 set.
I purchased the 24 set and then realized that not all of the 12 set repeat in the 24 set. Together the two sets include 31 colors with duplicates of primary or process colors, black and white.

Good, But Not Quite A Stand-Alone Product
I dabble in art and am always looking for new materials with which to express myself. These artbars are triangular-shaped water soluble wax sticks. They do pretty good as far as filling in large areas and I suppose some fine line work could be done with them if one is careful to use the edges of the sticks. I like these okay, but they are not a stand-alone product like oil pastels or watercolor pencils. They work pretty well in conjunction with watercolor paint or pencils as well as with acrylic paint and water soluble oil pastels, the latter of which is very much like this product. There is a bit of a learning curve and as such, there will be some trial and error. That's pretty much the case though with anything I think. I wouldn't pay anymore than twenty bucks for a set of 24 if I could help it, but that's just me and I'm on a budget. If you can afford to spend more, then by all means do so. Overall this is a good product, that can prove to be very useful and adaptable. The long and short of it, is I am sure at some point, I will purchase this product again. So that means I am pleased with it.

Gritty and uneven washes, good color selection though. Waxy crayon like pastels.
These tend to be somewhat grainy and gritty. They don't wash out into a smooth cover of color, instead there are lines and gradiations of color, an unevenness of the color. The colors in the set are well chosen though and laid out in a nice format. They tend to break easily, like all pastels.Though these have more wax in them than your typical pastel. They are a crayon pastel.

Unusual and brilliant drawing media
I like all Derwent products, and this one isn't an exception. It's difficult to describe what Artbars are - they are a mix between pastels, wax crayons, watercolor pencils... just buy and try them, there are smaller sets available or separate sticks. If you are like me and love experimenting with new drawing media, this one certainly deserves your attention.

Love the design
these are great! so glad I bought them. they don't seem nearly as lightfast as derwents inktense products.. but they sure are fun!

Great colors but stinky, mushy and fragile crayons
The package was stinking even before I opened it. The color bars are stinky and mushy (wet clay consistency). It is challenging to even make a sketch on ordinary watercolor paper, let alone the gorgeous marks in the Derwent video on YouTube. Did I get a damaged product or are they supposed to be so bad? It is painful that I paid 5k INR for this product.

It is like trying to draw with butter
The stick form is deceptive. It is like trying to draw with butter. I received the set in June and did not care for the sticky handling quality. There are a number of products which release pigment easily, and handle far better. (Crayola's Portfolio series water soluble oil pastels, for instance)

I'm disappointed in this product
I'm disappointed in this product, even though I happily use a number of their other products. Perhaps my expectations were different. The sticks are a bit on the large-ish side, which may/mayn't be to everyone's liking. But the strokes feel more waxy than pigment-rich. Compared to their Inktense blocks, this is not as vibrant. However, the innovative triangular cross-section may be liked by some, as it may help with their drawing. I'll not buy these bars again.

Water soluble wax crayon/pastel
I haven't had much experience with pastels and artist quality crayons, but these are fun and easy to blend even without water. With water they become watercolour paint. The brights are bright and the earth tones are rich. An all round winner.
