The thickness gives just enough cushioning. It definitely doesn’t slip. My hands and feet stay put. It is plenty long for my 5’1” body, but I’m sure it would work for someone 6 ft. tall. I’ve only used it for a week, so I don’t know about durability. I bought Gaian because I know it’s a reliable brand. I read a lot of reviews before buying and intentionally chose one that had NO mentions of pilling or degradation. It’s easy to roll, though it rolls up a bit wider than when I got it. I bought Gaia’s slap band to hold it shut. I was amazed that it expanded enough to hold it. If I was going to leave the house with this, I’d surely buy a shoulder strap carrying case. I’m a beginner so am just starting at home with my physical therapy exercises because the bed is too soft and the floor is too hard. I planned to pack and take this on a 2 month trip to use on the tile floors. But, it would take up too much space in my suitcase. I have to travel lightly because I’m recovering from a shoulder replacement and have a very bad back. By the way, the blue pattern of my mat is absolutely beautiful!

I love the pattern on moth sides of the mat, it is almost exactly as pictured, I will say that the darkest blue moons in the moon cycle are hard to see on the actual mat. The mat is super long too and very comfortable- it feels very high quality. I will say it does have a chemical smell upon opening it but I won’t dock any points for that as it’s to be anticipated with a product like this, I just let it sit in the open air for a couple days and the smell was gone.

I almost didnt buy this because it looked like it was some type of woven thick weave fiber which I thought would end up unsanitary. But no! Its great rubbery non-skid surface I love. Ive used it a lot in past two weeks and it's perfect. The color is vibrant and inspiring. I needed some padding and it's thick but not overly so, it rolls easily and is small storage. As you can see I use light trainer sneakers on it at times and it hasnt degraded the design. Great item!

When I opened the package, there was a very strong chemical smell to the mat. Think noxious fumes invading the entire level of my house. This was anything but faint. I loved the quality and pattern too much to return, so I looked on other reviews to find a solution. I'm new to yoga, so I don't have the fancy mat cleaners. I used Mrs. Meyer's Basil cleaner twice on both sides, but it still stunk up the room. I then moved it to the garage for a day and washed it down with Clorox wipes - better, but not something I'd want to be around, let alone put my face on. At this point I'm 2 days in and still haven't gotten rid of the smell, so I put it outside, hosed it down with water and let it dry outside all day over a chair. The smell was finally gone! I also purchased the Gaiam blocks and there's a reason they ship those wrapped in plastic... those reeked too! But this time I went straight outside, hosed them down and let them sit on my patio table for the day. By night, they were free of smell too. FINAL SUGGESTED REMEDY: Completely drench in water and let sit outside for the day.I'm new to yoga, but have horrible joints and was apprehensive of a 6mm mat being thick enough. It's very comfortable! I can do gate pose on hardwood without knee pain and tree pose without feeling like there's too much give to balance on. It rolls up and out nice without curling of the corners. I'm only a week in, so I'm definitely not as graceful, or gentle, on the mat as I will be eventually. My mat doesn't seem to care and takes the beating with grace for me. It's a very sturdy and patient mat. The colors I chose are no longer available (Mandala Mantra), but I love the navy and red mandala pattern. When I get tired of it I can turn it over, but not any time soon. I love the versatility!

I just got this mat today. I’m in love with the color and the fact it has two designs to choose from. It was a little plastic smelling when I first opened it but I popped it into the sun for the day and it no longer smells. I love the length and width of it also the thickness, it’s just enough cushion without it being too much. I don’t have any complaints I’ve loved this brand for years including their yoga blocks. Definitely recommend.

This has been a great mat for me. It provides adequate cushioning for joints without being so soft you sink into it. Also, the mat has been super grippy, I don’t find my hands sliding on the mat and the mat also does not slide on the floor. Plus, the design is super cute and looks really nice. I’ve been using it every day for a few weeks and no damage to the mat or fading of the design.

Bought this as a first time yoga mat. And it works amazon. Great pricing and great quality. I never slip when I do hot yoga on this. Love this and couldn’t recommend enough & such cute design

This is such a pretty mat! I love the thickness of it, for extra padding. I have noticed that a thicker pad makes me want to slip a little more, but I think that's a "me" thing.

Love this mat. It's thicker and has nice cushion to it. The designs both front and back are beautiful. My only complaint is I wish it was 2 inches longer. However, I will definitely purchase again.

Me gusto bastante, un poco más corto a los que uso normalmente porque soy alta, pero está precioso, lo volvería a comprar definitivamente.

When I first got the mat I was allergic to the chemical in the product and after multiple washes the matwas reuseable, however after only using it for a few months it is starting to chip pieces of rubber off themat. The product was recommended by a yoga instructor but mine is defective. I am very disappointed in it and would not recommend GAIAM to anyone. Also it is not EXTRA THICK as noted in the info.
