Excellent cord for my 10 year old Yaesu VX-7R. No need to mess around with making it, this cord does the job.It is a gigantic pain to try and program the HT manually. You need this cord and VX7R Commander to easily program the memories into the radio.This may fit other radios also, not sure, but I use it for the VX-7R.I was able to get it running quickly and I put in about 30 local repeaters into memory in a few minutes. Plus all the tones, and the labels and other stuff. This is a must have.Follow the directions for the radio on starting it up so it goes into read and write mode. I believe the software tells you how, or just google the VX7R manual.

This one actually works!
I purchased another one of these on eBay that failed from the start, so purchased this one from Amazon. The software driver doesn't work, you have to jump through a lot of hoops to make it work. But once you do, it does work.

Works as advertised, but not for VX-7R
This won't work for VX-7R. All the other radios are listed and it appears to work well with my FT-60r. If you have a VX-7R, or another Yaesu radio that has a screw on mic port, get the kind with the screw on port.

Cheap and works
Needed to spend a little bit of time to make the drive pickup the cable in my mac/windows parallels setup but work great once I dialed that in

Doesn't see my radio. Waiting for tech support to help out.
Can't get it to work. Emailed them for advice and was directed to the driver downloads for it. Literature is dated 2010 and Mac OS 7. I'm on OS 10.13.4. Can't get it to see my radio. If I have to go into Mac Terminal to figure drivers out which is like a throwback to DOS then I'm not interested. I have a Baofeng radio and that cable is plug and play right out of the bag. Downloaded the driver and plugged it in and off to the races. Not so with this one. I did reach out to tech support again so will update if I get it figured out. Shouldn't be this much work.

A unique programing cord due to threaded end and is only utilized for a few radios.
I've tried to use the yaesu adapter for the VX-7 but never found the correct chip for the driver. This cord and included driver worked right away, both directions, so am very happy with the product.

No Problems, Fully Satisfied
Product was as advertised. Cable came with an installation mini-cd (which was not needed). Cable was recognized by Win 7 Pro. Data was exchanged between VX 6R and VX6 Commander software with no glitches. To reduce potential strain on connector, handheld was screwed "onto connector" (rather than vice-versa) and not over-tightened. Fully satisfied with product and seller.

Works great!
Received it today. Very fast. Downloaded VX6 Commander and followed instructions to detect com port and transfer current radio settings. The cable worked perfect. I'm on Windows 8. No need to download drivers or have any other set up. Great product at a reasonable price.
