John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Hair Color Deepening Treatment, for Cocoa Infused, Darker Color, 4 oz, with Evening Primrose Oil (Pack of 2)

My hair has a lot more brown than gray. But it still looks a little dull. I've used this product 17 times along with the shampoo (I don't need the conditioner). It works very well for me and now I am waiting for AMAZON to get more of it. They say there are 'similar' products, but it's a risk to try something new. I don't understand why John Frieda stopped selling it on AMAZON or at his store. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I've been using this periodically to blend my highlights and roots. I've tried other masks and color depositing products but they all make my hair dry, or too brassy! Others just have wayyy too much fragrance. This stuff neutralizes the orange tones, and makes my hair feel soft. It is scented but not so strong that it makes me feel nauseous. Please bring it back!

I think this product does help. I just recently went from platinum blonde to chocolate brown. After 3-4 washes it faded a lot so I bought this and the John Frieda Midnight brunette shampoo. The color seeping treatment did help overall. However, if you just changed your hair from blonde it will only darken so much. Just a little honestly but I do see a difference. My roots that were dyed look great though! I feel once I go in for my second touch up and use this product it will definitely maintain the brown in my hair. It’s does have a male’s cologne smell. I mean I like the smell of males cologne but the smell is strong like the reviews mentioned. Once I used L’Oréal Natures therapy mega moisture nurturing crème as my conditioner it did take awhile the string scent. I left both prices on together for 10 mins. Hoped it would’ve down more on the old platinum hair but other than that good product. I did like that it brought out some of the red that’s in chocolate brown hair. Love that! But if you don’t like that than I wouldn’t use it. Ive read reviews complain and some love it. I’d buy again.

This product didn’t really help to eliminate brasiness. I did diy cocoa mask (cocoa + yogurt under a shower cap for 1-3 hrs) and it gave me better effect than this (diy version is just messier and more time big keep reading). I cannot stress out enough on how horrible their ingredients are. First of all, the fragrance. It contains hindered of toxic chemicals - do your research. It was so strong that gave me headache. Second, it states on the back of the product that this treatment can valse blindness. Just imagine, what are we putting into our bodies? Skin doesn’t have any protective layer underneath to prevent toxins entering the body. That’s why if snake poison is being accident swallowed, there’s still changes to save the person, vs if it gets on the skin, it’s fatal. Even if this product would work for my hair, I don’t just care about my hair being nice. I care about my whole body. Nice hair today, and cancer tomorrow? May God forbid. I’ll stick to cocoa mask. Messy but no toxins.

I have been using this for like 8 years on and off - it's the only coloring mask I have found that truly neutralizes my red tones and leaves me with a neutral brown hair, and darkens highlights beautifully. Please re-stock it!!

As a teen and in my early 20s, I bleached my hair and kept it platinum blonde, and it was to my waist. As time went on, the chemicals and chronic health conditions did not do my hair any favors. It finally snapped, literally, and I had to stop. Which was a great thing as I learned about the health damages all those chemicals can have. Anyway, fast forward, my natural hair is finally recovering and the dark blonde/light brown has come in to my mid lengths. The bottom was still blonde. I toned it down with a healthier color depositing mask and that was a huge mistake. As it washed out I was left with...red. Not happy at all, I almost reached for hair color again, which probably would have sent my hair breaking off again. But I used this instead, and it saved my hair. Does it have the best ingredients? No. But my hair is softer than it has been in years, and it matches my natural color. I can focus on hair growth and never touch a box of hair color again. I used it in the shower for 10 minutes after shampooing and squeezing out as much water from my hair as possible.

I have been using this for a few years, however I cannot find it in the two stores that sold it. Amazon price is steep but this product does work. You only have to use it once a week . It leaves your hair soft and shiny and it takes away the dullness.

I really wanted this to work as I have naturally light brown hair and am starting to see greys. I have long, thin hair. The first time I tried it, I shampooed, towel dried, and left on 30 minutes as per some of the reviews that said it needed to stay on longer than 5-10 mins. I saw NO difference. The second time I tried, I covered my hair in saran wrap and left on 45 minutes. I noticed a SMALL difference, no real grey coverage. Maybe 1 shade darker. I am happy with the results, but I won't be buying it again since it's so temporary. For my long hair, I used the entire bottle in two uses.
