Excellent replacement drive!
My customer's computer was hit by a significant surge during a power outage, and after that their factory-installed drive showed signs of failure... the drive started making noise (the death rattle) and would only properly boot with the PC 1 out of 3 times. I bought this drive and cloned the customer's hard drive to it, then I replaced it as the primary drive in the PC, and it works perfectly! In fact, my customer reported that this drive booted and responded faster than the original hard drive! I personally favor SSD and WD VelociRaptor drives for performance, but from now on the WD Blue series will be my first choice as a standard-performing replacement for problematic hard drives.

Replacement H.D. for a MSI AE-2220 A-I-O computer
I chose this model, based on other positive Amazon reviews. I wanted a H.D. with a little more capacity and speed than the original Western Digital 320 GB one from Dec 2009 that had developed 42 MB of bad sectors on it. This computer was bought in late 2010, and I was disappointed that the H.D. was already failing after only 3.5 yrs. This was the first W.D. drive that has ever failed me. I still have ones from 2005 & 2006 that are still going strong!Replacing the H.D. turned out to be the easiest part---taking off the rear support stand bracket was the hardest. It required a very thin #1 Phillips screwdriver to be able to access the bracket screws. The removal of the computer's plastic back cover was straight forward.I partitioned the 750 GB WD drive into two partitions using "PartedMagic", which turned out to be fairly easy!I also installed a jumper on pins 5&6 to turn it into a SATA II drive, to match it to the original 320GB H.D. computer's configuration.Luckily I had made "Recovery Disks" when the MSI computer was originally purchased in Oct. 2010, so re-installation of Windows 7 Home, 32-bit, turned out to be quite easy, taking about 50 min. I also didn't have to re-register with Microsoft, since the operating system was already pre-registered by the manufacturer. Installing on a larger H.D. didn't turn out to be a problem. Nice! The hardest, and most time consuming part, was re-installing all the latest Microsoft updates. What a hassle!!!I have not done any speed tests with this new drive, but it seems to be working properly. I ran a quick W.D. diagnostic on the new drive, and everything was fine. No bad sectors!I would recommend this H.D. for any desktop or laptop that takes a 3.5 inch format drive! I didn't need a larger 1 or 2 terabyte drive, so this 750 GB one turned out to be a nice compromise. 7200 RPM, SATA III, and a 64 MB cache are all pluses!

Good drive for the money
Was easy install. Win7 recognized and installed drivers. Was up and running quickly with no issues. It has been performing great for the 3 months since I bought it. Did not realize how bad my old drive was until I replaced it with this one. PC is now so quiet, I don't know it's running until the fan comes on.

Good solid dependable drive
I put this drive in a mini atx case. It runs quiet and cool. For a 7200 rpm, it's fast.pro's: fast; 64mb cache; runs cool; pricecons: Could have included a cable and instructionsNeutral: It's not really any quieter than other top brand HD'sI would buy it again. If you don't need a cable and instruction book, I don't see how you could go wrong with this choice.

Disappointed.
I ordered this drive, and the first one was DOA. The second replacement, I put it in a drive dock, and can hear it spin up but my computer does not see it. The dock works fine with other drives, so at this point am not sure what the issue is. I tried the drive in a D Link network dock, and still DOA. I would not recommend buying this drive 2 bad drives in a row.

Crashed Seagate Hard Drive
I researched about hard drives, and found that for most home uses, the Western Digital Cavier Blue (not Green or Black) is what one wants when replacing their crashed hard drive (if one prefers to use Western Digital). The Windows 7 Home Premium kept failing because the BIOS keep losing the hard drive (wouldn't recognize that I had one). I backed up all the data on my Windows XP computer, except MS Office 2007. I used a cloning program to try to clone the old hard drive to the new hard drive - no luck. I tried using an ISO file that I downloaded from DigitalRiver, to try to "fix" the hard drive - no luck (The Windows 7 never had a recovery disk made and yes, I burned it correctly using Imgburn). I cloned my Windows Xp SP3 32 bit to the new hard drive, but the old machine was set up for 64 bit and the only way to change to a 32 bit would be to re-format the hard drive. I didn't want to do that as I would lose everything. So, I ended up re-installing Windows 7, which formats and partitions the hard drive, and then installing MS Office 2003. Everything works fine now with all data recouped from my Windows XP machine. Time will tell, but I have been a fan of Western Digital for the last 20 years.

Quick delivery, easy install
Easy install and was able to quickly get it loaded with an OS. I always choose WD or Seagate for my HD needs, always great and reliable products.
