A fast-paced, third installment
What can I say? I really loved this book. A Gilded Iron Blade has been a wonderful, exhilarating read and is a fantastic addition to the San Amara Investigation series. It picks up from where The Oakwood Throne left off and presents another exciting, mysterious and action-filled adventure for Parker and Nick. Reading the first two books is a must before diving into this one.A Gilded Iron Blade presented a brand new case that has some large scale consequences to it. The so-called villain of the week is quite contemptible as expected. His character presented the reader another glimpse on how far the secret society hell bent on destroying the fae would go to achieve their goals. The worldbuilding like in the other books has been great. With the basic foundation laid out previously, the new details and information presented here added a deeper layer, more color and richness to an already interesting setting arousing a desire to see more of the universe of the San Amaro series. Moreover, the magical system has been so intriguing and I really liked the uniqueness of each magic type presented. Each characteristic on how one works on their own and when weaved with the other types is fascinating to read. The characters have been a delight as well! I adore Parker and Nick and the growth they had shown ever since they were first introduced in Wormwood Summer. Their bond has deepened and their relationship has become stronger ever since. There are still some rough patches here and there but they've matured enough to find it in themselves to slowly work things out.The book has shown a more vulnerable side to Parker who has slowly learned to open up to Nick and have the man he loves be the pillar he can lean on. It's not just Nick he has opened his heart to though. He had added Sugar the succubus he rescued, and the not-cat demon to the small family he is forming. The emotional parts of the story hit really hard and that one particular scene near the end was both beautiful and sad.If you're looking for a new urban fantasy series to binge on that has some magic-wielding main characters, humor, drama, heart-pounding action, politics fae or otherwise, a shadowy organization bent on destruction and world domination with a dose of romance weaved in seamlessly, give this book and the series that it is part of a try.I can't wait for the next book to drop. This would be 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.I received an ARC of this book and I have chosen to publish my fair and honest review.

superb worldbuilding that feels vividly real
Every so often, a book—or in this instance, a series—manages to slip past my strong aversion to First Person storytelling, but this one sounded intriguing enough that I gave it a try. This review covers all seven books in the San Amaro Investigations series by Kai Butler: One of the series' standout elements is its superb worldbuilding, which feels vividly real. However, from the very first book, it’s clear the strength of this series lies in its compelling characters and their dynamic interactions within their social and family circles. No one is perfect; everyone has their issues. These characters face obstacles that are far from easy and hardships must be overcome through struggle and growth. By the end, I was completely rooting for Captain Tate, although Runt was definitely my all-time favorite side character. The series’ epic conclusion is another highlight, connecting elements and discoveries from earlier in the series, bringing the story full circle in a very satisfying way. A moment that inexplicably lives in my memory now: Nick's annoyance at Parker for not using the washing machine’s different options/menu, which was a total throwaway comment, but fun and oh so relatable.

Lackluster for this series
This is a very in between book. It doesn’t stand on its own very well. The romance part is nonexistent; it’s all about the case. But the case drags on and on and there isn’t a satisfying conclusion. The spell work done on the climax of the book doesn’t make any sense. There’s a lot going on here with very little action or forward progress. A few inconsistencies as well. I still gave 4 stars because I enjoy the series, but this installment is a letdown.

Better and better ⭐️
This series just grows stronger and more action packed with each installment. The concepts Butler creates of mythology and magic, the multiverse and mysteries of creation itself is spellbinding. The humor and wit totally transcends, without question. You will laugh every page or two. You will be fascinated and engrossed, you will love these characters come to life. Start from the beginning and settle in!

Fantastic third installment
Loved this entry to one of my favorite series - if possible, even more than the last two (which were two of my favorite books of 2021). Parker Ferro is still finding his way in his new role, his partner Nick King is still fighting the good fight as one of San Amaro’s finest detective-alchemists, and all the secondary characters are still in full-force with their quirkiness and their distinctive strengths. It takes a village filled with fae, demons, not-a-cats, ghosts, witches and trees to keep Parker Ferro alive, I gotta tell you.The series is a mix of totally immersive world-building, edge-of-seat suspense, and a great ongoing/growing romance between two MCs who truly complement each other in all the best ways (very important when trying to save the world on pretty much a monthly basis). Fantastic storytelling, all the feels, the very best of book hangovers.

I'm a serious fan of this series...
Ms Butler has done it again wish is a nice, pleasant surprise because so many series out there just don't measure up after a while. I seriously like the relationship between Nick and Parker and the fact that there's no unnecessary angst between them, for a fantasy story there relationship/love felt real. I especially liked the mystery and action that went on in the book, It was a nice balance of action, drama, and romance. So far this series is getting better and better, and my only issue with the book is knowing I have to wait til this summer for another installment of "San Amaro Investigation". If I didn't have KU this book would have still been purchasing and reading it. Don't hesitate abou selecting this book, I can't believe you would be disappointed.
