Blind PS3 Sight Restored with YouTube ritual and the help of Jesus.
In an unforgivable act of rage, an evil voodoo sorceress cursed my trusty PS3, named Slim, with blindness after a particularly rough day of gaming. I was worried I would have to put the old girl down (yes, I named a girl "Slim". I didn't know she was a girl at the time) and adopt a PS4 or get a rescue PS3 (refurb), but after asking Jesus (he was at my house installing a window at the time) if he could help me restore vision to my PS3, he informed me he retired from performing miracles and was sticking to carpentry. However he did suggest I consult with an oracle named Google. There, I was able to educate myself in the proper rituals required to restore vision to my beloved PS3. Then I visited an Amazonian with one hell of a bag of holding, and I was able to procure an eye from a matching donor (model number KES-450A KEM-450AAA) and a magic wand (Torx Screwdriver) with which to perform the ritual. After sacrificing several chickens in the form of a KFC Family Bucket, I performed the required ritual and collapsed from exhaustion (it was actually a food coma, the chicken was pretty greasy. "Exhaustion" just makes it sound a lot harder than it was). When I awoke, my child and Slim were playing in the living room as if nothing had happened. Even though the replacement eye appeared slightly used, Slim has been running like new ever since the ritual.

Works For Now!
Product shipped the 14th of November; estimated delivery was November 19-26, but I received my package on the evening of the 17, which was great (I'll chalk that up to my proximity to the shipment center). Nevertheless I'm extremely pleased it arrived early!Installation was a breeze; this isn't the first time I've had to get a new laser. Fortunately since the shaft/motor came with the the laser part, it took much less time to install than it would've had I solely bought the laser part. I gave it a small pat with 90% IPA before I installed it, as the lens looked like it was up against the plastic container it was shipped in (which I wasn't the happiest about). However, my Blu-ray drive is alive once more!! Runs like a charm at the moment. 5 stars for now, but I'll certainly update this review if something happens over the next six months or so. My last replacement lasted about a good 8 months of heavy BF3 play, so hopefully this one will last a bit longer, as most of the extremely BD-intensive games I play I've acquired digitally since. Good purchase if you want to avoid having to spend $150 to send your PS3 to Sony, provided you have a little patience and tiny bit of technological savvy.NOTE: My model is a 120GB PS3 Slim, Model No. CECH-2001 (early 2010ish). Make sure you quadruple-check your PS3 models when purchasing parts!!!

Worked better than my stock laser
Shipped in 1 week (really fast for where I live)Installed it following this video: [...]I stopped the video at the point where he removed the whole deck, since the video is in fact for the LASER replacement and not the actual deck, but to replace the laser you have to remove the deck. So, when he removed it, I paused, put the new deck and re-assembled.First try didn't work, still don't know why. Just took it apart and put it again once more, triple checked everything and it worked (read the disc WAY faster than my stock laser did when it worked)Love the price; could not find any price even close to it, and even then no other seller offered 6 months warrantyOnly "con" is this:Given my little knowledge about blu-ray lasers, this is simply paranoia. Still, I think it should be an obvious concern. The plastic box the bluray deck came in touched both the bluray and dvd lasers (barely; but it touched them). As I recall, and as evidenced by so many failures related to PS3 Slim's laser, both bluray and dvd lens are extremely delicate; especially the bluray one. I just fear that, even though it works now, a bit of dust went from the plastic box to the lens, or maybe that the plastic box forced the lens and that this will make it not last long. I hope that, if I'm right, it stops working before the 6month warranty; I don't want to spend another $60 on this...All in all, very happy with this product.

DOA, very disappointing!
Was the unit shipped to me not even tested? Correct product was ordered based on my PS3 slim model CECH-2101A but guess I was surprised I'd be purchasing a replacement part i'm counting on to work that ended up being worst than the one I replaced. Sorry but when you count on a good replacement for a bad part this isn't supposed to be a luck of the draw thing! I spent a lot of time on this at first worried that I was doing something wrong on the install, but I then knew after 3 full replacements with the same results on my original bad unit and this replacement that constantly spins and clicks when any game is inserted I knew this can't be me and has to be a bad product. So I did the best thing I could, I returned it for a refund and purchased this one instead which worked on the first try! I have a review on it there too if you'd like to check out:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H82F6X8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
