Will it hurt to get the ring wet?

The ring may turn your hand green or black as will other metals who have copper in their alloy whether your hand is wet or not. Just the nature of the metal. Washing with it on or off will help keep it clean and also will wash away the green or black on your hand. Gently adjust the ring to your size and then leave it alone. All metal and/or soldered on pieces will break or pop off if one keeps adjusting or bending the metal. Enjoy and wear it.

Just don't get confused, is not white gold. The ring is open ended, so it is adjustable to fit by squeezing it together. I am a size 8, and I make it fit by squeezing it until the ends meet. I think it might be too large for you.
