One has to be persistent to make it work
Spent four hours trying to set it up. Followed all the instructions. The manual is horrible, text is tiny, very confusing and user unfriendly. I had to use a magnifying glass with light to look at the microscopic pictures. Manual is a Xerox copy and text is already peeling off the paper. Pages are not numbered, just lumped together on separated pieces of paper. It's very hard to guess where to start. No manual download in English. Instructions only have download codes for German, French, Italian, Spanish.Instructions are incorrect. It said press A button. In reality you have to press it multiple times to move the hand for example. English in the manual is poor, words are not used correctly. They use the word determine in the sense of saving a newly set timezone. Determine means to find out what's the current timezone is. They need a native speaking technical writer and an engineer to fix the manual. At the end of set up time is an hour off for my timezone . Not sure how to fix it, tried everything in the manual. I have another radio controlled clock and I only needed to set the time zone there. It set time and calendar automatically. Here you have to set up a calendar first, set the time zone, then after 12 minutes of rotation watch sets time incorrectly for the time zone, one hour off, and the second hand is jerking every four seconds because it thinks date is not correct. In order to avoid this issue I had to put an incorrect time zone to get correct hours. Still minutes are not correct, the watch is 3 minutes fast. Yes, I did zero calibration multiple times, it didn't help.I checked radio reception and it says NG which means Failed. I tried everywhere, indoors, outdoors, day, night, hill top, nothing. Reception is NG. Yet, I supposed to get reception in LA.I was charging the watch directly on the strong sun and it cannot get fully charged after a day of charging. It always gets NB, half charged. Did I get a defective battery? While being charged on the sun the watch got burning hot, I don't think it was the sun, i think it was the battery heating up. I was worried that such heat can damage the battery. As for design, it does not show normal numbers for hours like 1 to 12. Big numbers have minutes 5 to 55. Smaller numbers have hours in the 24-hour format but only from 13 to 24. This face design is confusing and doesn't let you to understand time easily.Nowhere on the watch it says Made in (Japan? China?). This is very strange. Usually respectful manufacturers disclose country of origin. Also is it safe to use it? Can it cause interference? I could not find any information in the manual.I do not appreciate the watch design and it is a pain in the neck to set it up and use. It's semi-working showing incorrect minutes. I would recommend to look for a better option for sure.Updated review. I was finally able to get a radio signal somehow and the watch was able to set the time correctly.

READ THE SETUP INSTRUCTIONS!!
This is a good looking, large watch. It took a little effort to get it set up in the beginning but it seems to be running fine now. You should charge it in the bright sun for a day when you first get it. After it is fully charged - do the hands zeroing steps and let it look for the time signal overnight. Do another hand zeroing effort the next day - and you should be good to go. Be patient when it is looking for the time signal the first time. Just leave it in an electrically quiet place overnight - and see what has happened in the morning. A watched pot never boils - is that a pun?It appears to be a great watch for this low price. It is a little large and heavy. You may want to think that over if you are a small person. I am happy with it.ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING !!! This watch seems to be VERY sensitive to RF noise. I have found that if I leave it within a couple of feet of some - but not all - TVs, phones, laptops, wall warts, etc., that it will not set overnight. But if I leave it in a corner of the bedroom where there are no electrical devices it resets successfully almost every night. It also seems to be very susceptible to interference from electrical storms within 500 miles or so.I have seen some comments talking about the 900 mile limit. My watch spends most of its time in Washington - 1,500 miles from Ft Collins. Noise - not distance - seems to be the governing factor. Mine sets itself at least three or four nights a week - more in the winter.I liked mine so much that I bought one for my brother-in-law in Alabama. He couldn’t figure out how to set it. He mailed it back to me across the country - I set it for him and mailed it back - it worked flawlessly for him after that. All I can say with all the negative comments about this wonderful watch - is that it is likely that those people just didn't (or couldn’t) take the time to read and FULLY UNDERSTAND the instructions.Be patient... it will work - if you read the directions and are patient in the beginning. After two years I am still completely happy with this watch. There are some other excellent reviews here talking about the importance of READING THE INSTRUCTIONS, zeroing the hands, waiting for it to set itself overnight, etc. Take a look at them.I sure hope they keep making this watch. I am thinking about buying another one now for a spare just in case they decide to stop making it.

Radio Controlled Time with good reception
This watch is a precision instrument using a quartz movement and a radio receiver for always accurate time. The setup is somewhat complex and must be followed exactly. There are YouTube videos available to provide support for the setup. For US buyers in the lower forty eight states the watch comes setup for the Fort Collins Colorado radio station. I live in a small town in the S.E. US over a thousand miles from the station and I get very good reception, so the 900 mile reported limit is not accurate. Large urban areas with tall buildings may make reception more difficult.I found that all I had to do was change the time zone from LAX, Pacific time to NYC Eastern time. For those living in other world regions the choice of broadcast station can be changed. Be sure the watch has a good charge before beginning any setup procedures. I have a very bright LED work light that will charge the watch in a few hours. Sunlight is probably best, just be careful not to set the watch on metal or stone surfaces that radiate heat, also avoid placing on a car dash to avoid overheating. It is very easy to check whether the watch has received the radio signal and the amount of charge that remains. This watch design is for those you enjoy precision and are willing to carefully read the instructions, watch the You Tube videos and enjoy the process of setting-up an intricate watch. I find that I only need it to receive the broadcast signal once or twice a week for my accuracy needs. For US buyers who want exact, atomic time set it near a window facing Fort Collins Colorado each night and enjoy knowing you will have, within a few milli-seconds, the exact time. I only rated it with four stars due to the complex setup which may not appeal to everyone.
