Has anyone tried cutting off the fringe? If so, does it ravel?

Is this light enough to function as a sarong for belly dancing?

I do not do belly dancing so I am Not sure on exactly how light you need or what you would wear. I picture belly dancing as being more of a sheer fancy look, but if a semi sheer cotton look is what you want, I would say yes it would work.

does this run? (is the dye set)

The dye is set by the sun. There have been some occurrences that it has a little extra dye. My suggestion is to soak in warm water before the first use to make sure that there is no extra dye.
