I’ve used many of these types of products…this one beats them all hands down.To be honest, I’m lazy, so I use the four pack they come in to start a fire, instead of breaking them of individuals.Have NEVER had an issue starting a fire, even with moderately wet wood.

I bought these to go camping. I really suck at starting fires. I went camping with 20 people, some very experienced campers. They were surprised that one little one started a fire from cold, every time. No kindling or anything. Just put it on one log and watched it start a fire. IMPRESSED. They are very small and don't take up much room.

We bought these a year ago for a big family caming trip to Rocky Mountians. Didn't want to have to fight making a fire, and kindling and what not. So We tried them, and another product. The other product worked ok. But not once have I ever failed to get a fire with Stokes. These thing are amazing. We continue to buy and use them because they are simple, clean, and effective.
