Is this matcha ceremonial grade?

It's labelled "ceremonial grade" but take that with a pinch of salt because companies like to call their matcha ceremonial, even if it's not. There's no official process to determine what's ceremonial and what isn't, so you just have to take the company's word for it. And technically, in Japan there's no such thing as "ceremonial matcha". We only call it that overseas. The Japanese grade matcha on its taste, colour, texture, when it was harvested, how it was stored, among other things. Matcha that was prepared a certain way will be used for drinking (we call it ceremonial grade). While other leaves that were harvested, stored and prepared differently will have different flavour/texture profiles and are better used in baking and cooking because of their bitterness (we call it culinary grade). But it's still matcha. It's not "lower quality", its from the same leaves, just harvested at different times and in different ways which gives it different characteristics. Think of it like chicken. You have normal chicken and corn-fed chicken. Fed differently which gives them a slightly different end result, but it's still chicken. Sellers have taken advantage of the obsession over ceremonial grade. The Japanese will never ask if matcha is ceremonial. They will ask where it came from, how it was stored and when it was harvested, to determine whether it's drinking matcha or cooking matcha. As for this brand, I'd say it's drinking matcha aka "ceremonial". Cooking matcha is distinctly more bitter, which this isn't.

Thanks for the question. Our matcha is grown over 1500km away for the Fukushima disaster and was therefore not affected. But under EU law every batch we purchase from our supplier is still tested for radioactivity before being deemed safe for human consumption.

How can you make a matcha latte with this?

My favourite matcha latte to make is a coconut matcha latte and I so simple to make. All you need to your milk of choice( I prefer and highly recommend alpro soy coconut for professionals, this gives such a good foam and tastes amazing with no need to add sugar!) I then heat up water make sure it’s not boiling and whisk the hot water into a teaspoon of matcha (make sure to whisk until there’s no clumps or lumps . Then add the whisked matcha to a glass of your heated up milk of choice. Really easy and you can add sugar or sweetener of choice but I prefer it without.
