Great for the price!
If you are considering getting an in car camera and don't want to spend a fortune then these are worth considering. I've been using two for the last three days and no problems. The leads are are now more than long enough for the front and rear windows on an Audi A6 but you'll need a three way adaptor for two cameras and a phone/satnav etc.It gets FIVE stars because for around £15 each you get a very good package that does the job and for a Chinese import, quite well made. Yes, you can pay £200 plus for hi-tech versions but if these cheap ones break or go wrong you've only wasted the cost of a medium pizza! The quality of the video... for the price... is adequate when used with a decent SD card (Class 10: a pack of two with some good memory for under £20). Night vision is fine within headlight range and under street or motorway lighting. There is a zoom option and day/night settings. My cameras come on automatically when I plug in the car adaptor and switch off when I reverse the procedure( you can override both.) Not sure if they're supposed to do that but they will still run on their own batteries. I haven't timed them to see how long they last under their own power yet. The cameras come delivered with on screen instructions in Mandarin/Cantonese but with a bit of detective work the language options menu will be displayed. The audio is recording all the time on default settings but the sound recording can be a little muffled on some road surfaces . And don't forget... police could confiscate them for evidence after a road traffic accident so be careful what you say about or to the other driver!!

Cheap and just about works, could be better described
You get what you pay for. Definitely not a HD camera however it can record at HD resolutions by upscaling. According to the manual, the camera sensor is "1.3M/VGA". This means either 1.3 megapixels (usually 1280x1024) or VGA resolution (640x480) however VGA is only 307,200 pixels (0.3 megapixels) and it definitely looks like the latter, not the former. My camera was dead out of the box, no charge light when plugging in the adapter after inserting the battery, and tried multiple USB cables - in the end I opened it up (four screws; two in the battery compartment, two on top) and fiddled around then it powered up and seemed to work fine. I had issues with the video recordings getting corrupted in strange colours, but this was fixed by turning off the timestamp overlay in the settings. My unit came in English. The night vision is poor as it is made up of six infrared LEDs. Windscreen mount seems sturdy enough. Inserted a 32GB Transcend class 10 SD card which gave ~5hr 50m estimated video recording time (irrespective of resolution), or 9999 photos (assume more but counter limited to 4 digits with no overflow), or 149 hours of audio only recording. I recommend downscaling from 1280x720 HD or 1920x1080 FHD 'movie size' resolutions in the settings for recording, down to 640x480 otherwise you'll just be wasting space on your SD card by artificially upscaling, you can do the very same thing by expanding the video player size when you view it on a computer. The screen has 270° tilt which is useful as the viewing angle is poor, but to be expected.Bottom line is I wasn't expecting much for the price, and I didn't get much, but what I did get appears to have worked alright if you know what you're doing. If you expect a completely flawless product that works perfectly, is easy to use and has good documentation, for this price, have a word with yourself. If you need something reliable, I'd look at some of the more expensive, better branded alternatives. Interestingly enough I saw the same model a few weeks ago in use by one of the local taxis that dropped us off, however it was facing inside the car like a CCTV camera. I don't think the viewing angle would've been good enough for that purpose, probably why it was turned off!P.S. Somewhat humorous excerpt from the Chinglish manual, "Small tip to save you big headache! A DVR is in a way very similar to a computer. If the DVR hangs itself (!) during operation, please follow the procedures below and most likely the DVR can be re-activated" (basically just use the reset pin, which should 'most likely' work).

A lot for your money
I was impressed with what £15 buys! Mine arrived from Hong Kong (3 weeks) well packed, but no manufacturer's box or instructions. Also the USB lead supplied appears to be faulty - but I had one already, so not a problem. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. You need to buy an SD card separately. The 12V charging lead was 3.2m long, which is enough to run from a car socket to the unit mounted by the mirror. The suction pad adjustable mounting device looks sturdy. When the charging lead is plugged in, it starts to record automatically, and runs for some 15 sec after it is unplugged. This is ideal if the socket in your car is switched by the ignition, otherwise you need to remember to press the "off" button (otherwise it will continue to record and eventually overwrite the journey files with a shot if the inside of your garage door). I'm not convinced that the picture is the resolution quoted, but it is perfectly adequate for journey recording. You can choose different resolutions, but I can't see any difference. The image is surprisingly stable for a moving camera. Like me, it struggles when driving towards a low sun on the horizon, but otherwise it is a good picture. There is a digital zoom (up to x4 with up/down buttons), but you just lose resolution - leave it at x1. The "enter/OK" button is the record button on the end. One screen prompts up/down/left/right buttons, but this unit doesn't have these (!?). The battery will provide about 45 mins of recording, for longer than this you need to plug the charging lead in. The SD card files were about 0.9GB per 10 min blocks of recording. I agree with another reviewer, that the IR LEDs are a bit pointless for journey recording so just switch them off with the menu to conserve battery power. The files are easily copied to and viewed on a PC with the USB lead, or removing the SD card and using a card reader. It also works as a 5MP still camera, which would be ideal for photographing any "incident" (unscrew it from the mount and turn the LEDs on). And it works as an audio only recorder too.I would advise spending a while playing with it at home before using it in the car, because you do not want any distractions when driving. On battery, the screen goes off after a minute or so, but on the charger, it remains on, so fold the screen up flat so that you don't watch it when driving.Even if it packs up tomorrow, I've had £15 worth of fun playing with it already!
