Pencils As Smooth As Butter!
Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils. I am so glad I purchased these. I used to sketch in pencil, but then started sketching in pen for many years. I recently wanted to go back to pencil sketching, but, couldn't decide what pencils to purchase...I definitely made the right choice here. These pencils are perfection. For anyone who has ever used a 'cheap' pencil, you will notice immediately the difference. These pencils are smooth, and they glide onto the paper with such ease, like a knife through butter...wonderful. There are no 'gritty' bits in the lead. The pencils are not round in shape, they are hexaganel, which personally, I find fit easier in the hand, and do not slip from your fingers. They also sharpen without breaking (use a Staedtler sharpener). In this tin set you get 6B 5B 4B 3B 2B B HB F H 2H 3H and 4H, and I found that more than adequate for me, and for most people, that really would be all you need. The pencils sit perfectly inside a plastic compartment (individual slots), inside the tin, and so they do not move around and get damaged. As I have been sketching for many, many, years, I would say that Staedtler and Derwent are now my only choice. Buy the Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils with confidence.

Great pencils!
Love, love, love these pencils! Beautifully soft lead that makes layering a dream. Comfortable to hold. If you use gentle layers with the darker grades, rather than applying too much pressure, then the pencil will last longer.

Very nice quality pencils but the outer paint can leave blue marks
Nice metal tin.Grades are accurate.Some harder grades feel a tiny bit 'gritty'.When using the side of the lead if I lean the pencil very close to the paper there is an annoying tendency to leave blue marks from the outer blue paint on the pencil which doesn't happen with other brands I have.
