A gift
It was loved by the 30 something recipient, but a sixty something would have liked it to be somewhat larger. It is tiny, and so is the print. Check the measurements before you buy it.The artwork enhances it greatly. Love Dylan. This is very evocative of the era.

It wouldn't be Christmas without it!
This is Dylan Thomas being totally Dylan Thomas, picking out little gems of stories from little everyday occurrences, moving us, making us laugh, as he lavishes his tongue around the language, savouring every word. We grew our kids up in Wales and we read this story aloud by the fire every Christmas eve. The kids are now grown and long gone from home, but we still read the book again and again, and I've given the kids their own copies and know it'll be something they'll treasure for a long time. It's just such a lovely, ordinary, story.

Wonderful, magical little book
What a gem this little book is. It's utterly charming, and brought tears to my eyes as I was transported back to simpler, more innocent times. It's only a tiny book, but I read it as soon as the postman delivered it, and I know I will re-read it many times. The writing is just magical, reminding me how skilled a wordsmith Dylan Thomas was, and the illustrations are so evocative of past times. Just wonderful.

I love Christmas, it's the only time of the year ...
I love Christmas, it's the only time of the year when I yearn to be a child again. This small book evokes such vivid memories that for just a little while I am 5 years old, one eye open on the empty stocking at the end of my bed and listening to my father ringing the church bells.

A perfect Christmas stocking filler.
A wonderful short story by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. It tells the story of a Christmas seen through the eyes of a young child. Rich in characters, it is nostalgic, warming and humerous. This edition is beautifully illustrated by award winning artist Edward Ardizzone. A timeless classic that brings out the child in us all.
