Velvet Black (12) Dylon Hand Dye Die 50g Clothes Fabric Dye

I have read good and bad reviews about this product and having now used it I can see why some folk might have a negative view. Think it is down to the complexity & limitations. Complex because you need to follow the guidelines to the letter, e.g. 6 litres does now fill the standard sink so one could easily "add" too much water. Limitations in terms of what it will not work well on, e.g. certain fabrics. Anyway, I dyed 2 black faded work shirts and a very faded black baseball hat. Result, excellent. Might have helped because the original colour was black, however, trying to change the colour unless the original colour is white is a bit of a crap shoot anyway.

Bought to dye blinds, they aren’t made of cotton so knew I wouldn’t get a perfect result, but I’m pleased with the overall look. I used 4 packs together to attempt to get a deeper colour. The black is blue based so if you’re dying man made fibre you might get blue. Was really easy to use, but was quite a messy process and took loads of rinsing. Definitely wear gloves because it doesn’t come off your hands without bleach. Definitely use the machine version if you can as it’s so much easier and gives better results

I never write reviews but felt I had to for this product. I bought the black dye, and used it on two tops. One was originally white and the other was blue. Well…. They changed colour after I dyed them, but neither of them turned black! The white top turned blue and the blue top turned red!!!! They were both in the same tub of dye together. I followed the instructions perfectly so I have no idea what happened, but I would never use this product again!

Great for one small item only. I dyed two items, a cotton shirt and a jeans jacket. Both took the dye well but came out with a new tone; bluck! A blueish black, not jet black, i recommend a whole packet for single items.

Made my faded black shirts look like new. Easy to use, just pour the powder Into 6 litre of warm water and let the shirts sit for 2 hours with periodical stirring.

It worked on my shoes but didn’t work on a top I had it was a white top with a little stain on for my kid but it didn’t take at all. It turned into a nasty brown colour so I wouldn’t really buy that again but it did work on my shoes and I’ve done it the same way so a bit confused
