2nd May 2020Bought this and was please, as it sits well on the gas ring - solid and stable - and reduces the heat, (and also retains it). So far have used it for small coffee percolator. Am very glad to get rid of the rusty wooden handled one which did the job, but leaves film of rust over the cooker.19 June 2020I revise my initial review and THIS IS WHAT I THINK ABOUT THIS RADIANT PLATEIt heats up the coffee percolator far too quickly, and therefore the coffee tastes mild and watery, as it heats up far too quickly. So have gone back to the one with holes, (that rusts) as it does DIFUSE the heat.This Radiant one REALLY DOES INCREASE THE HEAT UNDER THE POT.

Excellent - does what it says - do need to give it time to warm up though.NB it is the size of the pan which determines if you need the large or small diffuser.Cook rice or stews without the food burning or sticking to the bottom of the pan.The removable handle is essential for these so you can start the pan off, heat this on another ring, and then place it under the pan when the diffuser has warmed up. Once heated the temperature of the diffuser adjusts fairly quickly.Does waste a little heat, but solves the problem of the too-large rings of modern gas cookers which can burn food.Easy to clean, I am fairly certain these are the best designed of all the heat diffusers. Other types can end up clogged with food.

I chose this because of the material of its manufacture, making it more suitable for its purpose than the relatively flimsy aluminium alternatives. It works well and will be very durable.

This is the second one I have purchased because I was so pleased with the first one. They are really good quality and well worth the money. I left a pan of porridge on a rather high flame, in error, but the diffuser kept it from seriously burning. The caught bottom came off easily with soaking. I knew it would have been a ruined pan i f I had not had the diffuser on.Diffusers I have had in the past went rusty. This one wont. Thoroughly recommended purchase.

A fantastic kitchen implement at a fantastic price. Attached is a pic of this one next to the other type after a couple of years of use. You can see that this one isn't going to rust like that one. It's also got a really useful little handle which you can slip into the diffuser while it's on the hob and take it off without burning yourself. It's weightier, easier to clean (because you don't have to worry about it rusting) and clearly better quality than the other type.

perfect for my need.. i needed it to make aArabic coffee whuch need low temp and was successful...also helpful to coock in stainless with little less burn to sticky recipies such as rice .size was perfect not too big not small

Put to use straight away to make my Christmas Pudding and its great. I could relax knowing the temperature on the hob would stay 'even' for a long time. Will use again on Christmas day for reheating the pudding! I didn't tend to use the hob for braising or long, slow cooking but may do now. My range cooker is black enamel too so its a great match. Handle folds over so slips into my pan drawer for storage.

Heavy duty and built to last.Conduct heat well too. Handle is separate, so looks neat on the hob.
