Heavy duty air nailer, great tool
Been using this to build timber framing in a workshop. Its a bit of a beast sizewise, but it does hold 300 nails! Its large but not so heavy due to the alloy body, you wont be waving it around like a feather duster, but it doesnt feel like a huge weight on your arm.The tool can be manoeuvred into most positions for toe nailing etc, on 600 centre frames anyway, in my (fairly limited) experience of airtools the portability is limited by the hoseline, not the tool.Quieter (you still need earmuffs) fires with more of a thump than a bang, and cheaper and more pleasant to operate than a gas nailer imho. The driving depth is set by the pressure you operate it at so a decent regulated air supply is required, it can run at up to 120psi, but that is too much for softwood i reckon, crossgrain it drives 90mm ring shank nails just to or below the surface of normal cls timbers at 100psi. I have not used it with any other nails, just 90mm, i see no reason that it would not work just fine for nailing siding, panelling etc with shorter nails at lower pressure.Seems very solid build and made from quality materials, i’ve put a couple thousand nails through it and its not missed a beat, the firing and loading mechanism looks simple yet hard wearing.I put a ring of old inner tube around the body to stop it getting scratched when i lay it down, but thats just me.Overall i am very pleased with it, well made and capable of serious production, loses out to cordless/hoseless machine on portability, but in a workshop or small site setting it has proven a great workhorse for me.
