Sori Yanagi Stainless Steel Kettle Matte

The kettle was despatched from Japan soon after payment and it arrived when promised. It incurred an £18.20 charge which comprised HMRC VAT and Royal Mail handling fees. The Kettle was very well packed. I am using it on an induction hob and the speed with which a kettle of water now boils is astonishingly fast. Enough water can be boiled for three cups of tea in around 1 minute and 20 seconds.The kettle is a high quality product and is finished to a high standard. It pours without a single drip and the wide lid ensures very good access for cleaning. The folding handle is far more useful than you might think. It allows the kettle to be filled rapidly and also the cleaning to take place whenever there is a spare moment. The balance of the kettle with water in it makes it easy to pour the water out. The design is faultless and clearly a great deal of thought has gone into producing what is probably the best kettle I have ever used. When used with an induction hob, the power savings are expected to be around 4)%, which should be a good enough reason to abandon Japanese traditions.

I have had cheaper kettles that have not lasted very long, or left a bad taste to the water. I decided to treat myself for my birthday after researching kettles at some length. Sori Yanagi's tea kettle won out over ALL the competition and the reasons why are far too numerous to mention here.It will be used daily both at home and whenever I take trips away in my beloved campervan.This kettle 'feels' right in your hands, as it is has been ergonomically designed by Sori Yanagi. It pours perfectly. It is easy to clean as you can put your hand right inside and there is nowhere for any detritus to build up. Beautifully hand made in Japan. It is perfection in a kettle.I strongly recommend this tea kettle, it is a thing of beauty that will grace any home. I chose the matt finish and it is just right. Love it!

Use it on induction as kettle and as substitute for an electric kettle

Hope the following is helpful to you. I hesitated buying this kettle because price is higher than most other kettles. But after using it for a few months I honestly believe it worth the price. My personal experience is that on Aga stove top this kettle boils water much faster than other kettles I've had. For me thats its best feature, water boils incredibly fast. It may be because it has a very wide base. Handle pushes to one side to allow easier filling which is a convenient feature. Lid is not wedged on so have to be careful if pouring at steep angle in case it falls off, just something to be aware of. when pouring. Very happy with this kettle and the fact that its made in Japan ( to a Japanese design) gives me great confidence in the quality of it manufacture and the materials used.

This is a truly beautiful kettle. Probably going to last decades so environmentally more friendly than buying a new electric kettle every few years. This will stay beautiful whereas I find electric versions lose their good looks after a year or so. It’s very quiet when compared with most electric ones. I feel mindful using this kettle, pleasure to pour, look at & listen to. I stop whatever I’m doing to watch it boil, it calms me. Dislike how it makes everything else in my kitchen look oh so less pleasing ;-) Good value if you consider you’ll probably never need to buy another kettle ever again.

This kettle is a good looking design, but has proved to be a turkey. After only about 6 months use on my Everhot induction hob, the base has expanded and distorted to a peak, so that now only a very small area touches the hob as it rocks about crazily. This is now very inefficient and cannot be recommended for an induction hob. Something is very wrong with its design. After so little time, the kettle is now as good as useless.

Great kettle

On the face of it, this is a lot of money to pay for a stove top kettle - although actually, there are even more expensive kettles, both stove top and electric, out there. This kettle is simple - it doesn't even have a whistle but it is beautifully designed for its function. It boils very quickly on my induction hob (slightly quicker than my electric or old stove top kettles) is easy to fill and it pours well. (I know that sounds 'well, duh!' but the angle of both the handle and the spout make it much easier to pour without steaming my hand by mistake unlike my old kettle). It's also beautiful. I'm delighted with it.
