Kwikset 270: This The One You Want (smarkey and autolock features are awesome)
Keyless door locks are pretty much divided in two groups: basic function ones, and the over-the-top “smart” ones.If you are looking for a basic function keyless door lock, trust me, Kwikset 270 is the one you want. And this is why:-Just two basic functions: electronic keyless operation or regular manual operation with a traditional key (this is really a backup in case the batteries die).-Easy to install-Easy to program-Solid construction-Beautiful design/finish (we got the Venetian Bronze and it looks extremely elegant)My top three favorite features of the lock are:-SmartKey Re-Key: Basically, instead of using the keys that come with the unit, you can set the unit to accept the house key you already have (especially useful if such key also opens other locks in the house). It is very simple to do.-Key Pad: instead of individual silicone or plastic buttons that protrude, it is a flat type of surface that looks better and feels better to the touch. It is not a digital screen like a cell phone, buttons are still there but they are recessed. They also light up when you press them. The numbers are very large and easy to see.-AutoLock: close the door and the unit will lock itself automatically after 30 seconds (you can program different times, but 30 secs is that fastest you can do). Easy, done. This is a nice feature if you have children or guests and you worry that somebody might suddenly forget to lock the door on their way out. Peace of mind knowing the lock will take care of itself.Note: If the programable times for the Autolock feature are a concern, the Kwikset 270 allows you to disable the Autolock feature completely at any moment. When disabled, to lock the door you MUST always press the little lock symbol on the keypad . Many people have mixed feelings about keyless door locks that lock/unlock automatically because they drain batteries faster and they are also loud. I think Autolock is a nice option to have overall. Battery life and noise levels seem adequate on this unit.Very happy with this unit so far. I also got the Kwikset matching fancy door handle with a matching finish. Getting a lot of compliments and the set looks very elegant.

Spend the extra bucks for peace of mind
I first tried a cheaper Kwikset model (550), which just felt thin and "wimpy" and had about a 40% success rate engaging the lock, even though everything was lined up, chiseled out, etc. I'd take the dog for a walk and return home to see/hear the lock still grinding away, trying to fully engage, while flashing bright red, as if to beckon a would-be criminal: "Hey! This door is unlocked!"Enter the Kwikset 570.INSTALLATION: It was super-easy to pop it in and rekey.PERFORMANCE: Worked perfectly right out of the box. You can hear the powerful motor secure the deadbolt in place, followed by a double beep and amber light to confirm you are good to go.AESTHETIC: The unit looks very high-end and the lighted keypad feels very firm and durable. Note that it is not exactly "quiet." The motor is powerful so it's gonna make some noise when it's engaging the lock. You can disable the beeps, but I prefer them so that I know for certain the door is locked or unlocked.Definitely spend the extra money for this model. It's built to last.

Easy, Secure, and Convenient – A Must-Have for Home Security
The Kwikset SmartCode 270 Keyless Electronic Touchpad Deadbolt has been a great addition to our home. The keyless entry with its quiet motorized deadbolt and illuminated touch screen makes it super easy to lock and unlock the door, and I love the one-touch locking feature when leaving. Programming the lock was straightforward—with customizable and one-time codes to give us flexibility, and the alarm after 3 wrong attempts adds peace of mind. Installation was quick and easy with just a screwdriver. The SmartKey feature is awesome for re-keying the lock yourself, and the auto-locking option (we set ours for 30 seconds) is perfect when you're in a hurry. Highly recommend for added home security!

Works great, locks and unlocks FAST!
Not much to say that others haven't already said. It works, and so far it's worked flawlessly.I just want to add that these lock and unlock faster than any of our other electronic deadbolts. I haven't timed it but it's something like 1/3 of a second. It's already open by the time you move your hand from the touchpad to the door handle. Our other Kwikset electronic locks are so slow that we often jam the deadbolt from trying to open the door before it's done unlocking. We also really like the flat numbered, as opposed to the older style with little rubber buttons. It's much easier to slide your finger around and enter your code quickly, rather than having to carefully line up on each button so you press them straight in.5 stars all around. This is a great lock.

Simple and Easy
We have old deadbolt locks on the front and side doors. We refreshed both doors with new stains and top coats, making them look brand new. In contrast, the locks look old, and we want to replace them. Although we can key both locks with a common key, our teenage kids don’t really want to carry keys. We bought this keyless lock for the front door, and a regular deadbolt (also Kwikset) for the side door. We used the rekey feature to make both keys the same. The kids can use their own codes to open and don’t have to carry keys. The installation was straightforward with no issue encountered. The programming was thankfully simple and straightforward too. Lastly, the rekey feature is incredibly simple and has saved us the hassle and expense of going to the locksmith.I personally love the keypad that resembles a phone dial (instead of two rows of numbers). Overall this is a great buy.
