Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever (Giant Little Golden Book) Hardcover – Picture Book, 1 Nov. 2012

My parents use to read this book to my sister and I when we were young (3-6yrs old) and they use to call out the names on the page and we had to find it. We learnt very quickly and enjoyed the colourful pages. I only remembered we use to have this book when Amazon recommended this book and others by the author and purchased it for my son (age 2yrs).Boy, did his eyes open up wide!!! He already knows a fifth of the words before the book, and now he his learning more with it and enjoying all the characters and sketches on each page. So glad it is still in reproduction. Now, my memories are coming back every time we go through a new page and I call out the names of the words for my son!!I recommend others to get this book for a great way for toddlers to learn more words!!

I first bought this book for my younger daughter about 35 years ago when she was about 5 years old. She wasn't really interested in books, and it was hard to find one that would capture her imagination and keep her occupied. We had lots of books at home which were passed down to her from her elder sister and she didn't really bother with them at all. However, the moment she turned over the first page of the Best Word Book Ever, she was really hooked!! There is such a lot going on no matter where you look that she absolutely loved this book. She wore it out in the end!So - I have now bought this book again for my granddaughter who is 3 years old, and just like her mother she loves it too! I can really recommend it. I hope it keeps being published because it's just a treasure trove of things going on and keeps children interested.

I had this book in the 60’s and handed it down to my children but unfortunately it was so well read & loved it fell apart! (No Repair Shop in those days!) Bought this new version for my grandson…great book! 👍🏻

Had this as a pre schooler in 1960s and loved the pictures- ideal to look and discuss with your child even before he can read, little humourous touches everywhere. Bought copy recently for friend's child, and wanted to keep it! The rabbit in a chef's hat holding a frying pan on fire, labelled 'good cook'. The picture of the classroom where the text runs 'you can learn many things in school. Little Bear is learning how to find a lost glove'. Wonderful!!Incidentally: be aware there are 2 editions to this book. I recently bought a copy for my granddaughter and was careful to get the older one (the cover shows mother in the kitchen on her own, rather than the politically correct couple sharing the chores.) Worth paying a bit more as it contains a number of sections that were cut from later version (flower garden etc).

Anything by Richard Scarry Rocks!!Kids of all ages form 2-42 will LOVE Richard Scarry's books. They are ALWAYS colourful, witty, humourous and a delight for helping youngsters to learn about the world around them.My 2.5 yr old boy loves his RS 'Greatest Word Book Ever', and I have ordered additional copies for various nieces and nephews!The only minor, niggling complaint is the Americanised spelling and terminology; "faucet, color, meter-maid" etc. Surely the publishers could imprint a UK-English edition? Other than that, near perfect!

My friend bought a earlier addition of this book back in the eighties .My children spent ages looking at all the pictures in this book learning lots of things .I kept the book and was the favourite book of my four grandchildren they all went straight for the book.I purchased this book for my friend a new grandmother to share with her grandchildren.

Perfect for 2 years old daughter to learn new words. She loves to look at so many details and keep going through same pages again and again. I personally love pictures of cute animals and think that it's one of the best book I ever got for my daughter.

This book is great for toddlers and preschool/kindergarten age. Helps with learning. Love this book and so do the kids!

My son is three year old and he loves this book. He learned so much from it. Since I bought this book, he's not interested in screen anymore, Facebook has everything in it such as how to brush teeth, it has every vehicle in it, numbers, alphabet, and so on! I definitely recommend this book

It’s an amazing o book, with a variety of day to day vocabulary for children. I’ve bought this book to keep on teaching English to my little one and she loves listening to the book.
