Why does the vent tube not stay attached to the vent cover?

The fit is not exact. It would be best to apply a strip of tape (similar to what the HVAC techs use when they install duct work) around the vent tube and the exhaust port. One set is covered by the outside door flap and the second set is outside the flap. So the inside set is 4.25” square and the outside set is 6” square. The 4th picture for the cover gives the hole measurements.
