Works OK for now, May not address root problem.
Briggs and Stratton really hung a lemon on the consumers with this one. The head gaskets blow out because of a large span between head bolts. I'm not seeing any attempt to correct or modify anything to remedy this problem on this engine. (I have seen subsequent models have the problem resolved for that model). Other review forum users state a short time before gasket blows out again.

Perfect fit for my 20 HP engine
Replaced the blown head gasket on my Briggs & Stratton 20 HP Intek engine. Perfect fit and it fixed the problem. Always recommend using OEM parts.

Direct fit, genuine part for 19.5hp John Deere LA105
The B&S 19.5 engine is no stranger to head gasket problems. I've had two tractors with that engine and both blew head gaskets right around 40 hours of use. Huge plumes of white smoke are the usual symptom and will usually start when turning as the oil shifts in the engine. Replacing the gasket is SUPER simple! Anyone can do it- just pay attention. All the bolts on mine were the same length but that is not the case with all engines- just keep track of where they go. Clean off the surface on the head and the cylinder without scratching it, slap on new gasket and bolt it back together. Do NOT Rambo on the head bolts- the torque specs may vary by engine, but are quite low and tighter isn't better.Unfortunately, like many people who have ordered this- mine was bent by the kind, gentle and lovely Post Office employees. Sure, they don't realize that bending it causes problems- but it does. I flattened it out and rolled the dice- so far, so good. This happens more often than not when I order gaskets online.Plan for an hour if you've never done this before- that leaves time to clean it up as you go and a couple breaks to ponder what you're doing. From start to finish, I replaced the head gasket and installed new carb and fuel pump... just under an hour total.

Genuine part (head gasket) delivered with the utmost care
I was very pleased to see the head gasket for my Briggs and Stratton 17 HP OHV engine (model 311777) arrive earlier than originally scheduled. The part was a Briggs and Stratton gasket and fit the head perfectly. I was also surprised at the careful packaging. Because things like head gaskets can be easily damaged in transit I had worried it might get bent in shipping. I needn't have worried as the gasket was packaged in a sturdy corrigated cardboard sleeve that was inside a sturdy corrigated cardboard box. This was above and beyond as far as I was concerned and my gasket arrived undamaged. I installed it and my engine is no longer a smoker. Great service, and you have my thanks!

Good gasket for a poorly designed engine
It's no wonder the head gasket fails on this engine, there is no bolt between the cylinder and the pushrod tunnel and only a small gasket face. I've followed the advice of another reviewer and used 20ftIbs for the torque and have put blue hylomar gasket sealant on both sides. Time will tell as to how long it will hold
