Great value for the money
This knife is a real value. It's really sharp and isn't afraid of the toughest steak. It's a little big for a steak knife but it handles very well. It looks really old fashioned so you can pretend you're a cowboy when you're cutting your steak. It might be a little big for some people but I can handle it very well and I'm not that big so you should be okay using it. Just be sure to get enough knives for everyone or you'll have to wait your turn using it.

A Pretty decent blade!
It wasn't as sharp as I thought it should be but after using a knife sharpener called sharpal, that was taken care of. I think the manufacturer didn't finish the sharpening. Now, it's kind of scary sharp. I like this blade due to the weight and the steel is definitely good. It just needed a little extra.

Sharp as F***
I saw the commercial and bought one here on Amazon for me and my family to cook with. Well worth the money. Really holds and edge and I like the finger hole. Very sharp, very sharp indeed.

Very sharp but no sheath. Better for meat than vegetables. Use an 8" kitchen knife for veggies.
Yes it is sharp, however, it does not come with any type of sheath. You can not put it in a drawer and must hang it up. I bought magnetic strips in order to place it on the wall. You can buy a leather sheath from the company, but, other sharp knives I have purchased have come with at least a plastic sheath so it can be stored in a drawer. Trying to keep it in the box it comes in is tedious because it fits very snugly and is difficult to extricate.

Fantastic knife. I use the rocker method with five carrots. I rocked it up and then back and then forward and back and it went through those five carrots so smooth and the carrots didn't fly everywhere from chopping it actually cut. I have some great knives, but never any as good as this.

Nice!
It's a gift for the end of next month, won't know until then how he likes it, but if he doesn't want it, I'll keep it.

Not made in Japan and not made by Japanese masters but it is SHARP out of the box
The knife is sharp, very sharp. In fact it registers a respectable score of 178 which was repeatable on my BESS certified scale. For perspective, that is in the range of a utility razor blade which is sharper than the range of high-end cutlery. So you're asking, why only four stars then....and the answer is because the Matsato site describes the knife as "crafted using traditional Japanese methods" and "One of the reasons the Matsato knife performs so well is becauseit’s made from premium Japanese stainless steel." but it is made in china which casts doubt on the origins of the steel used and the longevity of the blade.

Works great
Works great. I had my reservations having ordered the knife before reading all the negative publicity on this brand. However the knife arrived beautifully packaged, very sharp, and I have nothing but good things to say so far. Would recommend.
