Weber Genesis 1988 Like New Again
My girlfriend's family has a Weber Genesis they purchased in 1988. I was tired of the hot spot in the rear and decided to replace the burner tube set. After some research, we ordered the tubes for pre-2002 models. The tubes arrived in official Weber packaging and fit like a glove. The Weber works like new.The kit included shoulder bolts to replace the manifold mount bolts. Interestingly, the instructions never mentioned the bolts and give the impression the existing set are easily removed. NOT! They must be drilled out since their exposure to high heat has bonded them to the Weber housing. After some experimentation, I found a way to remove the existing rusty tubes without drilling out the bolts on the manifold mount. Here is how:0) follow the instructions up to the point they tell you to remove the manifold mounting bolts. DO NOT REMOVE THEM. They will break and have to be drilled out.1) slide all three bars as snugly as possible against their respective manifold valves.2) while pressuring downward on the manifold assembly near the valves [NOTE: do not bend the mount...just pressure it] lift the crossover bar up so all three tubes deflect upwards and pull them away form their manifold mounts. I found it easiest to remove the center bar first, then pulled the rear tube up and released it from the cross tube. Whenever you need to release a tube from its manifold valve, pressure downward on the manifold assembly and maneuver the other end of the tube.3) as you slide out the tubes, rotate them 90 degrees so their flat ends fit through the slotted holes on the side of the Weber housing. [NOTE: much easier to do without the tank and tank mount in the way]4) slide new tubes into place and attach cross tube [NOTE: front tube, rear tube, and cross tube vent holes should face inward and the cross tube tab should be facing downward--center tube vent holes should face upward].5) pressure downward on manifold assembly and attach middle tube.6) pressure downward on manifold assembly and attach front tube.7) while pulling up on cross tube, maneuver the center tube into to tab. It takes some angling and rotation.8) pressure downward on manifold assembly and attach rear tube. [NOTE: reattach tank mount and tank if they were removed]Now follow remaining instructions to reassemble and test.

Great replacement for Weber Genesis 1100
Great replacement burner set. Note: the screws in the left side of the firebox do NOT need to come out. The front and back burner tubes just slide under the screw heads in the gap for them. Debris and crud can get in there which makes it feel like these are screwed in but they are not - they simply are pulled out to the right after you remove the gas manifold. Second note: the two bolts in the firebox that hold the gas manifold also do NOT come out - they are built in and should not be removed.

Good but missing screws
The burner and tent set are good but these do not include the screws that hold down the burner starter bars that go from burner to burner. I found what I thought to be the right screws but the threads on the burners are metric. So, I had to tap out the holes to match my SAE screws. Too bad they just don't toss in the 4 metric screws to complete the job. Kind of maddening. Oh well...

flame tubes work great. Be sure to use Weber's website to find the right parts.
I bought these flame tubes after searching for "weber grill parts". The first site that comes up will help you select the right parts, a must!I have an old "Genesis" barbecue from ~ 1980's give or take. This site allowed me to select all the right parts, flavorizer bars, regulator, grills, etc. I bought them all as I prefer this old Weber to almost any new barbecue. All of the parts fit. This is in contrast to a purchase I made about 10 years ago where I just went by a picture on Amazon for flavorizer bars at that time, wrong item! Also, in case you are wondering, the flame tubes work great! One other little item: Someone previously suggested a way to install these tubes without drilling out the two rusted in place bolts. This didn't work for me. Instead, I used a dremel tool to slice off the rusted ends of the screws inside the barbecue. Then I drilled out the screws as much as I could from the inside. This isn't easy as the screws are steel and the old barbecue housing is aluminum. I didn't need to drill them all the way, just enough so that I could unscrew them from the outside. One of those two screws I accidentally drilled a hole in the aluminum next to the screw. It didn't matter as both screws were then easily removed. The flame tubes came with new screws, which worked great.

Check your current burner tubes first -- you might not need to replace them (yet)
SUMMARY: Inspect and clean your old burner tubes -- they're probably still just fine.DETAILS: (perhaps more than you need to know)Lighting my old (circa 1996) Weber Genesis 2000 grill became gradually more problematic, and I already replaced both the flavorizer bars and cooking grates with stainless steel versions -Β Weber 7540 Stainless Steel Flavorizer Bars Β andΒ Weber 7527 Stainless Steel Replacement Cooking Grates . I'd already replaced the burner tube set, since the original unit was "plumbed" for natural gas (at my old home), and needed to convert to propane when we moved in 2000.So, the 12-year old burners were sputtering and I ordered a stainless steel replacement set (the subject of this review). While I'm confident that the new ones would work fine, I discovered that the "old" ones were ALREADY stainless steel, and only needed a bit of wire brushing and cleaning of the holes with a tooth brush. After performing that activity, and replacing the rusted out igniter (Weber #7509), the BBQ works like a champ -- and at a much lower price point than a new one!So, peek before you spring for a new set of tubes -- you might only need some "elbow grease" ;o)(Note: I'm keeping the new set as a spare)

Poor quality, Possibly Not Even Genuine Weber Part.
Work great. However, shipping took way longer than it should have. I received the burners and the package was torn to shreds. The burners look as if they had been sitting on the shelf for 20 years, lots of tarnish on the metal. The pinch welds that hold the alignment tabs on are awful. This is my second Weber BBQ refurbishment and normally I would say also go with OEM parts, but I am very disappointed in the quality of this part. The newer model burners are much better quality. I question if these are even Weber burners as the packaging has no branding on it and there is no instruction manual which is standard with genuine Weber parts. Very disappointed.

These burners are excellent, they heat up my 20 year old BBQ ...
These burners are excellent, they heat up my 20 year old BBQ like a new one. I revive old things for fun I currently have a 2 year old natural gas Weber Genesis, now I have a 20 year old second one just as good. The delivery efficiency of Amazon is second to none. Burners arrived within 24 hours and I found the cross burner was missing. I informed Amazon on a Sunday night. The new set of burners were delivered by Monday afternoon. I am impressed.
