I just received my new Z51 Shift model rollator/transport chair today and I'm giving my initial impressions. It's a well-thought-out design for a very useful dual-purpose chair. I researched every similar style dual purpose chair I could find online and this seems to have more great features and sturdier construction than any other I found for the price - the trade off is it's a bit heavy. I especially like the much sturdier wider, treaded wheels. I can see why most of the reviews are so positive.I made mental notes from a helpful reviewer who said it's easier to make tight turns if the 'pusher' taps one brake: right brake to turn right, left brake to turn left. And I can see why it's important to keep the swivel wheels turned forward over uneven surfaces, otherwise you could put undo sideways pressure on the wheel yoke and risk it breaking, as some have done. I guess we can't expect it to steer or push like a grocery cart, with our loved one in it. The weight is more vertical than a cart. And, with those 8" rear wheels, we also can't expect it to handle like a standard wheelchair either. But most folks will have no trouble at all.I did have one frustrating problem putting it together though. At least at first look, the 2 larger swiveling wheels appear to be interchangeable for either side but they are not. Their plastic fittings into the chair legs have a brass insert on only one side, which I found out must be facing the chair's inward side so the knob can screw all the way in from the outside. There's nothing in the instructions for this, which made for very frustrating trial and error. Regarding assembly: As others have mentioned, it would be VERY helpful if they would label the various wheels and handles with stickers, with corresponding stickers on the matching sides of their mated parts: A to A, B to B and so on. But then, you only have to assemble it once, and you're done.One drawback so far: Be aware that the "cushioned" seat is very hard. So for now, I'm using a cushion on top. The hooking of the foot rests onto the sides is fussy and a hinge arrangement would be nice instead. But some folks might want to use it as a rollator without the footrests with their added weight.All that said, I look forward to a bit more freedom to get around and get out more easily with the help of this wonderful chair and my 'pushy' friends.Update 2-1-25: BE AWARE. Took the chair for a 3-hour outing and found some challenges. Yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is difficult to push a seated person over even small transitions like from cement onto asphalt. Even more difficult if there's even a tiny bit of an incline involved. Also, I'm 5'2" with narrow shoulders and the handles made for a very tight fit and zero wiggle room. Wish the seat back was a bit higher for better support and chair balance.

So far this has been great for my husband, but we only used it for a day at an outdoor festival, but it was a game changer. He walked in with it easily at 6'4". Sat on it as needed. The seat cushion is plenty comfy IMO. I sat on it and found it to be quite comfortable. The back rest and armrests are somewhat narrow, but both were roomy enough for me and my husband both (I'm 5'3" and 165 lbs, my husband is 6'4" and 250). At the end of the day, we used it as a transport chair so I could help him in it when he was fatigued from the long day. Best decision I foisted on my husband (he was reluctant to have a "walker" but admitted it was a lifesaver after using it).

This is a great item. I bought this to transport my mother (170lbs) during our 3 week trip through Europe (Venice, Rome, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, and London). I was scared it might break down along the way, but I am happy to say that it survived unscathed. It survived cobblestones(Rome had the worst), boats, trains, planes, Ubers, monuments, museums, dirt trails, uneven sidewalks and ramps, and hills. The storage area fit an incredible amount of items. It was easy to transport due to the removable foot rests and adjustable handles. I purchased a carry bag to use when checking it on planes. Definitely recommend.

I’ve been pretty happy with this walker wheelchair. I took a trip to New York and used it to be able to do all the walking and waiting (sitting). Once when entering the subway, the front wheel just plopped off. The bolt was nowhere to be found. The only solution I could come up with was to borrow the bolt from the handgrips. The bolt for the wheel is longer, so I thought I was out of luck, but an awesome New Yorker figured out how to make it work. He had the bolt enter from the inside where it could screw in. This left the handgrip loose and free, but easier to deal with over no wheel. Maintenance at my hotel attempted to find a bolt that would work, but it was a unique size. We eventually ended up zip tying the handgrip into place. It was a good short term solution, but I’m really hoping that the company will help me with the right size of bolt. Needless to say, after this, I made sure to check the tightness of the bolts so I didn’t lose another bolt.The chair and the backrest are honestly quite comfortable. I had to take my daughter to the ER and used it to sit for the 5 hours we were there in a lot more comfort than the chairs the ER provided.The wheelchair is easy enough to push.As a walker, it is easy to push and stable.The brakes work well.It doesn’t fold flat by any means, but the New York taxi drivers worked magic getting it and our luggage in their SUVs playing a little Tetris.It is not the lightest, but not super heavy. But when my back is very flared up it is pretty difficult to get it into the car by myself.The basket has been great. I’ve even let my dachshunds rest in there wrapped in a blanket and poking their heads around the raised seat when the walks are too cold for them.It’s so nice to have the footrests. You can install them in a backwards position when using as a walker, but I called them my ankle beaters because they would swing out and attack passerbyer’s ankles. It’s best to store them in the basket.It’s a great walker/chair and I’m glad I have it. Just check your bolts to make sure they don’t loosen and break free.

My sister has cancer and has gone through a lot. This walker /wheel chair has allowed her to walk when she can and ride when she feels she needs to sit and be pushed. I love it! Easy to use and my brother in law is grateful for it too.
