Sulfur is gone!
Installed a new water heater after many years, and suddenly our hot water smelled like rotten eggs. I tracked down the culprit as the magnesium anode rod interacting with sulfur bacteria in our well water, and an aluminum / zinc replacement rod as the cure. Since I didn't have a 1 1/16" socket, this About Fluid set was what I needed; the instructions were excellent! Be prepared: the factory-installed magnesium rod was torqued within an inch of its life; it took a breaker bar plus a cheater pipe (about five feet of leverage) plus a buddy holding the heater to wring it loose; I also needed to use a hacksaw to get it out because of our basement's ceiling height. The About Fluid rod slipped in much more easily, thanks to its multiple segments, and torqued securely (though way less than the original...). Bonus points for the suggestion in the instructions to add some hydrogen peroxide before inserting the new rod; the sulfur was gone almost immeditely. It's been a couple of weeks with no sulfur, no leaks and no other issues.

Perfect
The instructions are crystal clear. They include all of the parts necessary. And after following the instructions the rotten egg smell is gone. What more could I possibly ask for out of a product?

Brilliant!
Worth the money. Comes with instructions (for dummies) basically fool proof. Comes with everything you need. It is obvious this product was influenced by plumbers. The anode rode having segments is a great addition because it is flexible and will be easier to get in and out especially if your heater is very to the ceiling, like ours. Great product! Thank you!

AMAZING Directions! Great product too!
WOW! The Anode rod came with the most amazing step by step directions. No guessing, no grammar or spelling errors - just fantastic! They instructions even had a bit of humor sprinkled in. No steps were left out and there were even tips on adding hydrogen peroxide to immediately get rid of the sulfur smell. This product is 10000% worth the purchase. Easy-Peasy - done in less than an hour. The toughest part of the whole process was putting the drier vent tube back on when I put it back in place next to the water heater. :-)

Good quality product with very detailed instructions
For way too many years I shied away from doing this project since I thought it was incredibly hard to do and complex. This anode rod package came with detailed instructions and a high quality socket. Since I was very concerned how hard it would be to remove the rod, I purchased also a tiebreaker bar 15-in long to assist with removal. I got very lucky and after little impact needed, I was able to loosen and remove the old anode. As you can see on the picture, there was literally nothing left of the old rod. This did not necessarily surprise me because I never changed it and the water heater is 17 years old. Shame on me. I'm usually pretty good with routine maintenance of equipment. All in all, this is a very good product and I can only recommend it. Made by licensed plumbers of small company based in the US.

You will need more torque
I finally got it installed. My wife decided to call our favorite plumber, even though I'm a pipe fitter by trade. I knew a couple of weeks in advance when he was coming so I put penetrating oil on it twice a day for a week, we actually did two of them the same day. One heater in use the other next door not being used at the time of install. It was good that the kit included a socket because we ground down the face of it so it wouldn't round off the top of the anode rod during removable. We started with a 3/4" drive breaker bar adapted to the 1/2" drive socket. The results were unsuccessful. I had a compressor and 1/2" impact that we tried next but my small compressor couldn't deliver enough air to the impact gun. So our plumber went home, just around the corner and got his compressor and impact gun. It spun the two anodes out with no trouble at all. The socket is good because you won't have to grind on your good tools but you will need more torque than any one or two men can muster and if you don't have a sufficient impact handy you most likely won't get the job don't.The plumber was grateful for the instructions. The instructions stated at the end that you saved X amount of dollars by installing the anode yourself. He said that he now know how much to charge for installing anodes.
