Great Product!
I bought the Liquid Leather Color Pen Repair Kit to cover scratches on my off-white leather sofa caused by my dog's toenails. There were no rips in the leather. My first instinct was to make up a small batch to check the color. That was a waste of time because once I made it up, even if the color was perfect, there was no "recipe" to reproduce the color in a larger batch. (I ended up adding small amounts of black, brown, and yellow to white paint to get the off-white color. Who knew there was that many colors in off-white).So I made up a mixture in an amount that would cover the quite large area, took a small artist's brush and painted over each scratch mark. The match was pretty good, not perfect, but it was a big improvement. However, the paint was a bit shinier than the leather and made the repaired scratches noticable. So after giving it some time to dry, I took the leftover paint that I had mixed up, added a little water to it to make it a thin consistancy, and painted over the entire surface of the cushions with a regular paint brush. If you didn't know it was painted...you wouldn't know it was painted. After a couple of months, it's beginning to show a bit of wear. The dog still gets on the sofa and I wash the cushions with liquid dish soap. Down the road, I'll just paint again and consider it a maintainance chore. It doesn't take much time or skill and I'm very happy with the results.

this kit contains basic colors like white, black
this kit contains basic colors like white, black, brown, yellow, green and red. the instruction comes with color guide in description. the leather item I was repairing is red, not a difficult color to match, just need to test the mixture on the attached vinyl that comes with the kit, and you can wipe the color off the vinyl easily for re-use.I didn't use the dab-pen that comes with it because the area I was going to repair is much smaller than the dabbing sponge, instead I used watercolor brush, the smallest one, to apply the mixed red (red+brown) that I think closely matching the item itself. it looks OK after the painted area dried up, what amazed me was the clear finish that I have applied over the painted area, it made the repaired area looked new and restored to a very satisfactory state, I wouldn't say it matched 100% but you can't really tell under a bright light, I have not used it at daytime yet, so not sure how it looks like under the natural daylight. But overall, the result is good. You just need to make sure you try a few times on a small and not so visible area to see if the color matches your expectation. I did't use as much water as it was given on the instruction, since I paint watercolor for leisure, I kinda get the feeling when the mixture paint is enough or not.The bottom line is, I like this product, and I wish it would come with more color selections for more options.

Got exactly what I paid for..
I should have known that a $6 product would not help..I only used the color pen, so I cannot comment on the repair part of the kit. The seven colors are the consistency of paint, not stain or dye. They mixed well, although they were hard to measure in 'drops' as instructed because you just kind of pour the color out of the bottles.I was able to match the color of our leather chair without difficulty. I didn't need to mix much..I just needed to touch up a few small areas on the edge of the arms and the piping on the seat. I applied the color and waited for it to dry. The color looked good, but it was very dull and did not match the sheen of the rest of the chair. I have leather protector that I apply to the chair once or twice a year to keep the leather soft and protect it. I applied the leather protector to the new color areas thinking that it would help with the sheen. Instead, all of the new color rubbed right off. The color had not stained the leather at all..it just sort of stayed on the surface like brown paint. The kit is going into the trash..

This product worked great for my problem!
This product worked extremely well for me. I have a beige leather couch. It is only 2 years old and is used in a vacation home used by the whole family. This year, someone mistakenly got some ball point pen marks on the arm of the couch as well as on one of the seat areas. It was very visible and I tried to clean it with one of those white magic sponges. Well, this did not work and actually rubbed some color off (this was not an expensive leather couch!). I decided to order this product and finally got around to trying it today. WOW is all I can say. I took my time as one of the reviewers suggested. The instructions said to use the white, brown, and yellow color vials to create beige...I was able to get it almost exactly right after mixing and adjusting the color about four times (adding a little more brown...then adding some yellow to brighten etc..).I mixed the colors inside the provided hollow 'pen'. This pen comes with an insertable roller top with a soft pad.Instead of using the pen's roller top I used my finger to dab the color directly over the ink marks and area where I had rubbed the original color off. I was able to then adjust the color as I observed whether the color mixture that I was applying appeared too light (I then added more brown to the white base in my case), or needing more brightness (such as by adding more yellow in my case). I would then just reapply the next adjusted level of color right to the same spot that I was working on to recolor. This simple process worked for me though the instructions never recommended using your fingers (just FYI).Now, you can't tell where the ink stains were and the areas where I had accidentally removed the original beige color were restored. The original problem was very obvious prior to applying this prodcut and now you have to be 'looking' for where I covered the ink marks. I am very pleased. The product brings 7 individual colors vials and a huge description of what combination of colors to select to obtain a huge range of hues. It is up to you to determine what quantities to use of each vial to get to the correct color for your needs. The product also brings grain texture papers, and a vinyl adhesive to repair more serious issues...I can't attest to how a more serious repair (such as a tear) would work since my issue was stain related.
