Great Birthday Present for mechanic son.
My husband has had one of these for years. Our son borrowed it all the time so we bought him one of his own. he was thrilled to receive it.

Burns Oil - Common Issue
I like many others have the issue with this thing leaking oil. It was solid for about 9 months and then had a dark puddle under it. Keep in mind my unit maybe lifts 10 - 15 cars in a year. It like a car you gotta put oil in to use. Kinda sad for how easy a life it has had for the $$. Other than that it is a super good paper weight.

Sturdy, Large Range Jack, Poor Crating and Quality Control
I liked this jack well enough that I ordered a second one. Be prepared to fix/alter/return the jack. The bad: Both times the jack has arrived damaged due to inadequate crating / packing material. No doubt the manufacturer is more concerned about shipping volume than the actual shipping cost which is already no doubt high because of the weight. I'm in the process of getting a replacement handle retaining thumb screw for the second jack and plan to do some sanding and painting on it to fix shipping damage or will just return it. My first jack does not have a balance problem, but the second one teeter totters because the back right wheel sits too high. I've put on an extra thick washer as a leveling spacer between the wheel and the body mount. The extra 1/8" is about right to prevent rocking. There was no visible obvious bending in this area from shipping so perhaps welding jig they use must not be very consistent and quality control lacking. The good: These jacks can get under very low vehicles like my BMW M Roadster and are sufficient for jacking up my Dodge RAM 3500 dually diesel or my lifted Econoline E350. Bigger range means fewer jacks to replace seals on, fluid, grease, etc. and less overall space in the shop is a win. The jacks pump up relatively quickly given their size and the leverage from the roughly 4 foot long handle. The foam on the handle to help protect the vehicle body is welcome and I'd like to see a second one further up to help prevent damage to other nearby objects. I wouldn't want a shorter handle or longer pump up times when lifting several tons. The large footprint and large lifting pad help make it easy to position the jack and stable even at the top of the range. The paint has held up well for several years except where damaged in shipping. There are a few welcome grease zerks and the product comes with a parts manual. The price is very reasonable given the amount of steel involved.

It is a beautiful jack but it is defective!
I purchased this jack at a local Northern tool store. As the instruction said, it needs to be purged out before use. When I turned the jack handle counter clockwise until it stopped but the problem was it never stop the valve kept turning, so I decided to turn the handle clockwise and it felt like it wasn't engaging. I decided to put it back in the box because there's something wrong with it and as I was putting down the handle socket to put the clip back on the jack and all of the sudden the hydraulic jack oil came out around the universal joint valve and it made a mess out in my driveway. I took it back to the store and told them what the problem was. In the store they have two try out jacks and I asked them if I can try it. " The staff said yes you can " I did the counter clockwise and clockwise on the handle and the same problem occurred on those two floor jacks labeled as " try me " in the store. I decided to return the Yellow Jacket jack and I exchanged it to a different jack from Northern tool where I purchased the Yellow Jacket jack. If the one I purchased is bad and including those two jacks that I tried in the store maybe, all of them are defective then?

Visual proof they don't build-em like they use too...
Home use only to lift Chevy 1500 & Tahoe, started leaking within the first year. In this photo you'll see an orange jack (purchased in 1975) beside the Yellow Jacket (2018) surrounded with hydraulic fluid. Other than the occasional top-off the 75 model has been 100% maintenance free. The yellow one very expensive to have completely failed almost immediately. Don't waste your money, this yellow jack will give you the blues...

Heavy Duty Floor Jack - Excellent Quality
This is a heavy duty floor jack. It's really "beefy" and weighs almost 120 pounds. Obviously it's not easy to pick up but it's wide steel castors roll across the floor with ease. It's got a wide base and in the 3 ton category, it raises to 24 inches which is about 6 inches higher than most others. The handle fits snugly together and comes apart easily for storage. It has zerk grease fittings for lubrication, a padded handle, rubber padded center lift, and a nice magnetic tray which holds your nuts, bolts, lugnuts, sockets, etc.... It's a nice added feature. I included a few pictures of this Yellow Jacket floor jack next to my 2.5 ton Husky floor jack and my size 10 boot to give you an idea of how "beefy" and wide this jack is. This jack easily lifts the heavy front end on my 2005 Ford Expedition 4 WD with 4 pumps. I looked at a lot of different floor jacks from many different companies before choosing this one. I'm extremely satisfied with this jack.

Save your money
$300 and it leaks fluid every time you pick anything up. What a complete waste. I have jacks that cost less than 1/4 this price that have required ZERO maintenance. Extremely disappointed in this product
