I tried this a while ago, but my memory is that the tip does get hot. I doubt it's hot enough to cauterize though. :(

Can't possibly be permanent.

This item can't possibly remove hair permanently - Ask for proof before buying !!Don't buy this as it will not work as claimed. It can't because it lacks a probe to deal with the hair roots

Button warms up too much when on for probe. Sometimes have to remove and replace batteries, even new ones, because the cover of the battery holder is slack. It does work, but is frustrating to use.
