Daniel J. Travanti and JoBeth Williams star in the heartbreaking true story of John and Reve Walsh whose 6-year-old son Adam disappears one day while at a shopping mall with his mother. Within hours local police mobilize a massive search for the missing child. But to their surprise the Walshes find that there is no federal agency willing to join in the search. The Agony of "Adam."
I can remember buying this movie on VHS over twenty years ago. At the time I deemed it unwatchable, not for the subject matter which is painful to watch, but because it was recorded as SLP speed, which meant crappy picture/audio. So there it sat, until I finally gave it away. Now...Hen's Tooth Video, obviously a small, independent company, has issued it on DVD. The picture is decent as well as the sound. I also glad to report that it is closed=captioned, so my hearing impaired 86-year-old mother can watch it. Daniel J. Travanti was nominated for an Emmy for his performance as John Walsh, Adam's father. His heroic efforts got Congress to enact the Federal Missing Children's Act, and of course he went on to host the long-running TV series, "America's Most Wanted." He definitely turned a negative into a positive, albeit at a tragic cost. JoBeth Williams, the mom in the "Poltergeist" movies, also turns in a moving, heartbreaking performance as the mother of missing Adam. The film, made for tv and originally airing on NBC, is sometimes unbearable to watch, and I guarantee you will shed more than a few tears. The running time is 97 min., in color, with full frame.

IT'S TIME FOR A REMAKE! The acting and the movie itself was so bad, they did't show the killer
I bought the DVD online from Amazon, this movie was not on Netflix so I just got the DVD instead. I gave a thumbs down on Adam: The Song Continues on Netflix. I could not go through the movie. The acting was very bad and the movie setting was cheesy. There was no emotion like when the dad found out about his son's head and his remains, he was throwing a 5 year old temper tantrum becuz he did not get his way, except he wasn't screaming, hahahahaha that was how bad the acting was. This boring movie did not show the killer Otis Toole's point of view. Just only dialogue about the little boy's murder. This movie was so worst that I ended up putting the disc in my shredder and the DVD paper as well.

A Tragic True Story
Adam is a heart wrenching 1983 made for television movie starring Daniel J. Travanti and Jobeth Williams. It is the sad but moving story about the abduction and murder of six year old Adam Walsh in 1981 and his parents struggle to not only move on but also their crusade to have a more effective government role in finding abducted children. Adam is very well made and features strong performances from Travanti and Williams, who both received well deserved Emmy nominations. Daniel Travanti, the multiple Emmy winning star of the groundbreaking Hill Street Blues, gives a especially powerful performance as the grief stricken John Walsh.

Remembering the Victim!
I remember reading about this when I was a young adult and was so heartbroken for the family. Before Adam, child abductions were almost unheard of, and unfortunately today it seems to be the norm. The acting and writing of this movie is superb, and to watch this without tears is almost impossible. To have endured such a tragedy as the Walsh family did, and to not only survive but to dedicate your life to fighting for the rights of all children is beyond remarkable. I applaud this movie, and the family who were so courageous to allow their story to be told!

Sad and all families can learn from this movie.
Gosh, I watched this movie when I was a kid and remembered it vividly, it scared me of strangers as a child growing up. An instrumental tool of a very unfortunate situation that can teach children and families by watching this! I watched it again the other night and cried. God Bless the Walsh family and what Mr. Walsh has done with turning his very sad story into a passion to help other families out there. This movie is very educational, I think all children should watch this, that is only my opinion.
