Q: Would a 34 in waist get a size med or large? I dont want the waistband too tight.

I am a size 32 waist and I have the medium with plenty of room and the waistband is no where close to being tight. For me, they seem just a little big but i like it that way, it allows great airflow. I think the medium will be fine for a 34 waist and probably will fit even better.

Q: How well do these wick moisture?

Pretty well - and they dry as well as my Ex Officio travel utes.
