It says ages 8 to 98 on the box. I definitely suggest parental supervision. :)

Q: do the pots need to be fired?

It's been many years sincere bought this for my daughter, but I don't r call them having to be fired. Very enjoyable for my daughter (now 15) at the time.

Q: What is the measured revolutions per minute (rpm) for the wheel? I'm asking because i'd intend to use it for cake and pastry decorating.

It certainly doesn't have a tachometer so this is a best guess. The speed is a bit slower than I would have thought when ordering. I'd say it's about 60 RPMs, or 1 Revolution per second. Possibly a bit faster.

No, it only goes in one direction
