It's very sturdy. And you could probably use an 8" mattress ...
My fiancé put this together in about 45 minutes. The pieces were labelled a little differently than in the directions, but someone with at least average intelligence can figure it out. Took me a while to figure out how to fold the bed down, but once I did it was a breeze. This futon is my nightly sleeper. It's very sturdy. And you could probably use an 8" mattress on it (I got a 6" and put a memory foam topper on it)It's perfect for hanging out and watching TV. And it's a fantastic alternative to traditional futons.

Sturdy and fits in small area
This was exactly what we were looking for: a mission-style futon that holds a FULL size mattress while only taking up the space of a loveseat. We sprayed it with a couple of coats of wood sealer, got an "expert" to help us assemble it, and found a decent mattress for it....LOVE. Very sturdy, and fits into the small space we had. Note: keep the instructions that show you how to turn this into a bed, and back into a loveseat. You'll need to consult them, if you don't convert it very often.

Solid well designed furniture - with some tricky assembly
Once assembled, this is a very sturdy frame and well designed with the three recline option - flat, normal chair or recliner. It holds a thick futon, snugly, and is in nature of a reclining love seat.However, it does come in a million pieces and my 22 year old son had a devil of a time putting it together. It took about three hours plus to assemble in final form.It is far superior to creaking metal cheap frames, and for the price a good deal on solid piece of furniture.

The wood is very nice, smooth and sturdy
I bought this to replace a very uncomfortable sofa in my camping trailer. It had to be under 68 inches to fit the space, yet open out to a full size bed. It took my daughter and me about 45 minutes to open the package, sort the pieces, read the instructions and put it together. The wood is very nice, smooth and sturdy. I bought an 8 inch inner spring futon matress to go on it, but the 8 inch was too heavy for me to open and close the bed by myself, so replaced it with a 6 inch tri-fold mattress. Perfect! As soon as I have time, I will round the front edge of the arm rests, and put a finish coat on the unit. Finally good sleeping in the camp trailer!

Actually using this as a bed for our toddler. The convenience of being able to convert it to seating/lounging during play times, or even having it as an emergency guest bed is very nice.It was actually very easy to put this together, the directions were *very* clear and the pieces were labeled well.One con: it's relatively light, so if my wife and I and our child is sitting at one point on the bed (over the second joint), the bed will actually cantilever a little bit. But my wife and I aren't small, so I'm not entirely sure I would expect anything more based on the price point and the construction type.

I was fairly easy to assemble
Just what I wanted!! Since it is popular and unfinished I will let it dry for a few months so the green goes away some what then I will finish it. I was fairly easy to assemble. I bought a 10" mattress for it but it is too big and heavy making it hard to switch between functions.

Versitile futon frame
We bought this to replace a broken inexpensive metal futon frame. We love the lounger since it is more compact than a standard couch style futon. You can adjust the recline angle. You also can use this as a bed, lounger, or loveseat (lounger and mattress folded under). You sit higher up on this than some cheap metal frames. It took my husband about 2 hours to put together. We may stain or paint it in the future. We are just using the old mattress from the cheap futon we had and can feel the slats under it. We may upgrade to a new 6 inch thick mattress in the future.I took one star off because one of the arm rests has a piece of wood that is split part way down the length. Needed it now though for a guest to sleep on so didn't want to return it. Might contact seller to see if they'll send a spare arm rest.

Beautiful & Sturdy Twin Size Futon Frame
This is a wonderful twin size futon frame. It is easy to work...pulling out the lounger is a breeze, even for my "lightweight" hands. I painted it flat white and severely distressed it before putting it together. It came out looking beautiful, as you can hopefully see in my pictures. One note - the wood, poplar, is very soft and very light weight. For me that is a good thing, because I can move it easily. After saying that, it is certainly strong enough - it holds my 250-pound son plus. And I love the arms - glad I bought this one!!
