Best Crayola Pencil Selection EVER
I remember being excited a few years ago when I discovered the 64 PENCIL box with built in sharpener and was so excited to get more colors than the standard 50 pencil box, but when they arrived, the 64s were mini pencils with no names on them. Because of the small size and built in sharpener, I decided those would be good for my travel coloring bag. Then Crayola made the 100 pack and I was so happy - full size pencils with the names on them! I got amazing colors that are in the larger sets of crayons! Outer Space and Absolute Zero being two of my favorites. So I am very happy to say that the 120 box is every bit as wonderful and then some. It does include the new "Bluetiful" and the color is the same as the crayon version. Honestly, its so close to "blue" that its not worth it to me, but "Dandelion" is still in the set! The extra 20 colors are worth it if you take coloring seriously.* I have seen a number of people upset about how their product arrived. Mine was perfect, new, and obviously unused and not repacked. The box itself is meant to ship the pencils, but I don't think its a great long term storage box. Its large and unwieldy for just grabbing it as you change color. The box is about 9" across and about 1.5" thick. The pencils are in 4 compartments inside the main box (as you'd see in a 64 box or 96 box of crayons). Personally, I like to remove the pencils I use a lot and keep them in a cup and leave the rest in the box. I work with so many pencils at once from different sets. (Personally, I'd LOVE it if Crayola had a section of their website to making custom pencil boxes as they have with crayons where a whole compartment can be filled with just one color if you wanted. Colors that are only in the 100 or 120 pack like Outer Space, which I use a lot, could be ordered without ordering all the other colors you don't need. Crayola might also consider a special multi layer carry box with handle for a set like this which would make it easier to carry and store and organize by color)I really recommend this set if you color flowers a lot and need subtle differences between shades of yellow or blue or purple, etc. For the price, these are really worth adding to your art supplies.

Variety of pencils
I liked the variety of colors in the set

Might want to consider different storage container
The box doesn't open like a traditional Crayola box so it's hard to see the colors unless you remove them from the box.

Great Budget Pencil
First, the cons.: My white pencil came bent; the rest of the pencils were okay. They were not cushioned in the shipping box but so far, I haven't come across damage. These are not necessarily a "quick" pencil to color with. They work best when multiple light layers are used to build up color before burnishing. Burnishing can be an issue for those with arthritis.Pros: For the number of pencils you get, it's a fantastic price. They have great layering and blending qualities, but you need to have patience because multiple light layers are what create fantastic pigment appearance. They have a great selection of colors that are useful for portraits, landscapes, seascapes, etc. They work great with solvent. They are good for anyone who has a heavy hand since the cores are hard. For me, the crayola pencils worked best and appear vibrant on regular bristol vellum. I use a 67lb bristol vellum (147 gsm) and the tooth of the paper really allows the pencil to grip the paper and lay down pigment. They are less vibrant and rather splotchy and uneven on smooth paper, but that could be due to my heavy hand. I have not tried them in children's coloring books, but in some adult coloring books they work great, and others...not so much. It all depends on the paper that is used.I use the crayolas to practice new coloring techniques, shading and shadow, sketching, and producing thumbnails of anything large-scale that I plan on coloring and painting. I love both burnishing after a lot of light layers, and, I like using them with solvent when I want the painterly effect and don't want to spend the time to burnish.Overall, this was worth the price and I would buy them again.
