how many cans do you need to do a 10 foot boat, and do you need a clear coat as well or just this?

I have used Rust-Oleum camo paint on just about everything once. It works great for boats, golf carts with long lasting, grilles and bumpers. I would wash the boat with dish detergent (I use dawn). Then lightly sand with 400. ( I wet sand with 400) Make sure you have no loss paint and fix anything you don't like. Wash again with dish detergent. Let dry good. Then when you are ready to paint wipe everything really good with denatured alcohol. Wipe till it a white rag is clean. Just before you paint use a tack cloth to get lint off. Then start your paint job. I have use it on grilles of trucks to bumpers with over 2-3 years out in the weather and still looks good. I have used the satin clear coat on some I have done, and you may like the look over the flat of the camo. Hope this help and Rust-Oleum is the best IMO to get the pro camo look I want at a great price and long lasting.

I'm sure you can..I would get the helmet completed and then spray it with couple of coats of clear finish from the same company...It will make the finish last a great deal longer...that's just how I would do it. But the paint covers real well.
