Grinder vs Clippers?
I bought this grinder as I wasn't very successful with some clippers that I bought to use on my nervous pekingese nails and cut one of them to the quick which turned out to be quite messy and left a great feeling of guilt that I had hurt my beloved pet.As the description advises, I calmed my dog with a brush grooming and a cuddle, then started the grinder (which came precharged). It isn't very noisy on either speed and as I brought it close to my Peke, she seemed unnerved. However, when I tried to file her nails, she was quite jumpy - I don't know if this was from her previous experience or that it tickled? I did find the noise as it was filing reminded me a bit of the noise a dentist drill makes - it wasn't the best noise and I wasn't keen. I tried to speed up the process by turning the speed up and did manage to do her two front paws before she had had enough and jumped down. The file does tend to throw out quite a lot of dust, there isn't a holder to catch the debris in but if you take the top off and tap it, it does seem to keep some of the dust attached to the file.I noticed that the file was quite scored, so Im not sure how long this would last or if you could get replacements.I put the file on charge with the supplied USB cable - you will need a USB plug to connect and this is not a standard micro/c shaped plug so again, make sure you don't forget where the charger is when it comes to charging!Personally, I've decided that I'm not a fan of either clipping or filing my dog's nails and will take them to a professional groomer to keep her nails in trim, but of this electronic file or clippers, I would much prefer to use this - it seems much less likely to take the nail down too quickly and therefore cutting to the quick. If you have a less nervous dog, you may find this quite easy to use, but it's not for me..

Easy to use
Works well, my dog doesn’t mind it too much but it takes quite a while to reduce the claws

Take the grind out of nail clipping
The grinder itself works well, it's very quiet & didn't spook our dog at all. We have a German Shepherd whose claws, even the vet admits, are exceptionally tough & would put any device to the test. In our case, the motor did labour at times but manage to work to a point as we have discovered he doesn't like the vibrations of the grinder on his claws. We haven't given up but will try little & often from now on.

Best for small breeds
No good for my dogs claws as would take ages but if just a small dog I'm sure it would be fine

Very cute !
Small & compact but boy has it sorted my dog out who was terrified of nail trimmers....so bit the bullet and bought this nifty little grinder its quiet , I allowed my dog to sniff them while on she was little anxious but soon became calm , I'm relieved they managed to file her nails down ...my dog is a Westie so maybe wouldn't be as effective on a bigger dogs nails perhaps .....but all in all a very good buy thank you .

Rubbish
These are pathetic honestly dont waste your money. They might work on small dogs or cats but no good for my collie cross. Takes about 10 minutes to get anywhere with them.
