Vocabulaire Progressif Du Francais (French Edition) 0th Edition

I have worked for a year now with my tutor in the advanced level and occasionally turn to the grammar companion publication. It is a great enchancer for French vocabulary!

Very useful

This is one of 2 books and I have all three. They are all in French and therefore are best suited to someone who has enough French to be able to understand them. I don't understand how this beginner's level could possibly be used by a beginner. It starts by teaching you to say "Bonjour", but explains everything in French that you couldn't possibly know yet. It's very good as a revision book, though, and I am picking lots of little things I didn't know.There is a wide range of vocabulary with good hints on usage, the kind of thing you don't get in a dictionary. For example, vieux is considered a negative word and age (excuse lack of accents) is preferred. Best of all, there is lots of French text which is quite easy to understand and which gives lots of examples of how to say things. It's all delivered in bite sized chunks so, although there is quite a lot to learn, it is not as daunting as it might be.

I used this as a refresher after studying french some years ago. This is great for people who are teaching themselves and for those who would like some additional vocabulary excercises. The chapters are short and manageable, and the phrases used are authentic. I especially like the cultural references. I am just about to buy the next book in this series. I also use this as a reference book when doing my french writing excercises. Highly reccommended.

Like all the books in this series it helps if you work through it. If you do not know french or do not feel like translating save your money.

Zum Erwerb eines Grundwortschatzes ist das Buch recht gut geeignet, wobei man dafür natürlich auch die beiden Folgebände durcharbeiten sollte. Eine leichte Einschränkung findet sich in gelegentlichen Tippfehlern und in Methoden, die didaktisch nicht unbedingt auf dem neuesten Stand sind. Man sollte es vielleicht nicht unbedingt zur Basis des Lernens machen, aber als Ergänzung ist es definitiv gut geeignet.
