Deters mosquitoes !
This Skin So Soft lotion is very good for moisturizing your skin. The reports are true, it appears to repel mosquitoes too. I remember this lotion from when I was a little girl and it is still an excellent product. The scent is not overpowering, a clean scent. The lotion absorbs well and not greasy.

Still amazing after all these years
I have used SSS for decades. My main motivation is its unique ability to ward off insects. Yes that's right it is a wonderful alternative to stinky sticky oily insect repellent! I take my shower at the end of a long day of working in my gardens, apply SSS, then sit outside all evening and enjoy the outdoors without being bothered by mosquitoes, gnats, etc. But what I truly love about this product, in addition to protecting me from pests, is the lovely woodsy scent and how soft and silky it keeps my skin. I recommend it to all my friends.

An Impressive Mosquito Repellent
We live in NC and our house backs up to the woods. After my 3 year old son had gotten bitten up by mosquitoes, despite putting bug repellent on him (Cutter Natural), I asked friends to recommend a safe, effective mosquito repellent I could use on my son. 3 out of the 8 people who replied recommended this product (Original Avon Skin So Soft).I was skeptical given this product isn't specifically designed to keep away mosquitos. Also, I associated Avon with MLMs (which I actively avoid). I decided to look it up on Amazon and found this. I was encouraged to see other people comment on its bug-repellent abilities. Since buying it, I have slathered it on my son about 7 different times and it has worked like a charm each time. 0 to 1 bites after more than hour of being outside. I don't have to worry about him inhaling spray or putting his hands or arm on his mouth after applying it.A lot cheaper than an overpriced bottle of Johnson and Johnson's Baby Creamy Oil with aloe and vitamin e (also known to keep away mosquitos).

Not as good as the original
I've used this stuff for years to ward off mosquitos in the summer and it always seem to work pretty well. I hadn't bought any in a few years and when I bought this I was a little disappointed. I'm not sure what the difference is but is just doesn't seem to work as well as the original version in the keeping the mosquitos at bay but it still a good lotion.

Great skin moisturizer
I got this lotion because my neighbor recommended it to me. I have a condition that has caused my skin to dry out horribly. She told me. That Skin So Soft has helped get rid of crepy skin on her arms. And it’s a bug repellent as well. So I got some and I really like it so far. The smell is very nice and I love how my skin feels so far.

I was hoping for a nice subtle, soft smell but it was kinda pronounced ...
So I bought this item because I really wanted it to work against bugs. It didn't.I know it's not a bug repellent, but I was hoping the reviews as a possible insect repellent were true for me as well.I put it all over and went outside to do a test run but I still got bit in various places. Did I get the same amount of bites if I had not used this? I believe so. Maybe I am just too irresistible to bugs and they just ignored the smell? Who knows! But it just did not work for me.Regarding the smell: it smelled okay. I was hoping for a nice subtle, soft smell but it was kinda pronounced and sharp to me. I have a sensitive nose.On softening my skin: it worked okay. It didn't really make my skin soft (as other lotions have) but maybe I just need to give it more time? All in all, the price is not worth it to me since in all aspects (other than insect repelling) I found it to be just okay.
