We have an old door that has an extra-long catch with an 'old style' smaller spindle hole which won't accept the contemporary spindle width - meaning you can't change the handle from the old, worn-out one, without replacing the catch. Having visited the local hardware shops, I drew a blank on finding a catch long enough. Amazon to the rescue, once again!

Almost a direct replacement for the more expensive Legge one, except that the hole for the courtesy lock (if you have that fitted) is about one eighth of an inch further from the door edge, enough that you have to move the lock fixture and it shows a bit.Our Legge latch failed while a visitor was in the bathroom and she had to climb out a window, luckily on the ground floor. The zinc casting that the doorknob shaft goes through just broke up after 35 years service.

Item delivered was not as described.Delivered catch was not bolt through as photo. The catch was plastic not brass finish. Item measured 90mm not 95mm. Otherwise OK.

Easy to fit, better than the original which died after 30 years of everyday use.

It does exactly what it’s supposed to

As described and fits my doors which are this unusual size. The backset from the edge of the door to the handle spindle is about 77mm. Will be buying more. Works as expected.

Did the job perfectly. The last one (make unknown) disintegrated in the door making it difficult to remove. Hoping this one won't, certainly looks better made.
