Rutland - 81V Premium 1400 Degree F Hi-Temp Brush-On Paint
I rebuilt my fireplace and then put the Rutland 1400 degree Hi Temp Paint inside the fireplace to give it a refresh look, even though the smell was really bad it was easy to brush on and look amazing after it dried. It’s been too hot to burn a fire to see if it holds up to the heat but I will try it this winter. I bought one quart size can of paint and it was not enough it went on really thick, and I had to buy another one to finish the job.

Works well from the cat back on exhaust systems
Was looking for a high heat paint that you could BRUSH on to a metal exhaust system. Yeah, I know, this stuff is for fireplaces, I get it. BUT...If you read the can, it can be applied on steel or stainless steel. Ah ha moment ! I found something ! Did some homework on Rutland's website, and yes it can be brushed onto exhaust systems. Rutland always made fantastic / versatile products. So, I followed the directions, blah, blah, and began brushing it on the exhaust system. First off, the fumes this paint gives off will give you brain damage ( just kidding...but they are BAD ). Make sure you are applying it in a well ventilated area. It dries super fast to a matte black. 2 or more coatings will require you to " bake" the paint for better adhesion. ( That's easy with an exhaust, just start the car and let it run a few minutes). Very thin paint, so it glides right on. A little goes far. Now, the can says it can tolerate up to 1400 degrees of heat. So, after all said and done, took car for a ride on the highway to get exhaust good and hot. Peeling began at the manifold down to the 1st catalytic converter. Everything after that was PERFECT ! Going to have to use 2,000 degree ceramic spray paint where the peeling occurred. All in all, it's a GREAT product

The black mat finish is great!
It covers great and the finish is smooth. I would recommend this product for sure. Be ready to wear a respirator mask, cause the fumes are very strong. If you are using it inside make sure you have windows open and a fan on. The smell and fumes was completely gone in 3-4 hours. No one is staying in the house so I didn't worry to much about the fumes. Something some people would have to consider.A small amount goes a long ways. My next project will be painting my gas grill.

Big difference
It’s night and day. Completely changed the look of our fireplace. I’m doing a fire glass conversion, so painting the fireplace was essential. The paint is viscous and definitely has a smell to it. Drys fast.

Great product for painting the bricks inside the fireplace
Very happy with the result! Be aware that the paint odor is very very strong and noxious. Wear a mask and make sure to open windows and doors and the chimney flue if, like me, you are painting the bricks inside the firebox. Remove pets from the room. The smell dissipates after a few hours once the paint dries. I e included before and after photos.

Worked great!
Used this to paint the inside of our gas fireplace brick from red to black. Looks great! Smelled strong so open windows while you paint.

Good product. Easy to apply. Dries fast.
Arrived on time in great condition. Product worked well. Important: Need to ventilate room while using. Wear mask. No pets or children should be in room while using this product. Easy to apply. Dries fast. I would buy again.

Wow! Looks like I have a new fireplace!
Looks great on the old beat up mortar and ugly bricks. Holds up well. No peeling. Use foam paint brushes for sure. Have a ten pack of foam brushes, you will need them. Can is small, but it's enough to do entire fire box properly. It took every drop, so do not waste any! Shake/ mix well prior, and move diligently until done, as it dries quickly. It's flammable, so don't start fire when wet! I let dry for 2 days, the cured it for an hour with flame. Use it every night. My picture is with out the screen so you can see. Looks better with screen in place. Thanks Rutland! Great product!
