Fun and Interesting
This book carefully describes the development of a typical Roman city. Starting from scratch through to its completion. From a technology and engineering perspective it gives us wonderful insights into how well designed and thought out and planned these cities were.

Interesting book
Pretty good outline of the Roman method of developing cities. Nice illustrations. Could use some better organizations of illustration with text.

Very interesting book
I bought this book to be a companion to some of the books on Roman society that I have. I understand this is an almost 50 year old book. The drawings of the cities were pretty interesting. Though I wish they went into greater detail than what they did, but what is here is sufficient enough I suppose.

Great for nostalgia, and perhaps for any child's over stimulated mind!
These books were some of my favorite as a child. The first one I received as a gift was CATHEDRAL, and it awakened a love of architecture in me. Soon I was asking for all of them for birthdays and Christmas gifts. I didn't think about these books for a long while, until Notre Dame caught on fire this past year, and I remembered CATHEDRAL, and started re-ordering these. My nephews were actually drawn to the simplicity of the illustrations (which is amazing in this world dominated by screens and all sorts of special effects). Great for nostalgia, and perhaps for any child's over stimulated mind!

Schooling book
The book does a great job explaining how Roman cities were built (the Romans were great builders). The book content seems really good and has a lot of drawings, which is exactly what we need in order to visualize what we're reading. Even my 10 year old picked it up, thumbed through it and was impressed with all the drawings.
