The best on the market
I use this with all my alocasia plants and they love it and do so well with it. I layer the bottom of my container with perlite and then this moss. Does well with moisture retention. I’m so amazed how this small compacted package expands once it comes in contact with moisture. Great product.

100g, in its packaging, with the height being less than 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) and about 8 inches (20 cm) wide. Pretty tiny & definitely not what I was expecting. I was skeptical as many others that have reviewed. I forgot to take a picture of it in its packaging. I googled it right away because I didn’t think it looked like the packaging in the besgrow website. After googling, watching and reading reviews, I decided to keep it. Wow! Was I pleasantly surprised.I added 2 liters of water (2 quarts/64oz/8 cups). MissOrchidGirl on YouTube recommends this brand as well as the Repot Me brand of sphagnum moss that’s also available on Amazon but this arrived the same day I ordered which was about a week faster than the repot me Sphagnum mass I ordered. I will be using this for my Orchids. You get way more bang for your buck with this brand compared to repotme Sphagnum Moss.To dry, repackage and store, I squeezed all of the water out a small mound at a time, laid it out on two trays and air dried outside. Placed in ziplock bags once it was completely dry. I did pull out a good amount of debris which I feel is to be expected. Added that pic so you can judge for yourself.

Like those expanding dinosaur kids toys
I never leave reviews, but there's some confusion on just how much moss you get in a package so I wanted to clear that up with pictures. I can't figure out how to upload pics tho. So I'll be descriptive instead. This is for the 100 gram package. I'll also say up front: This is my first sphagnum moss and I haven't planted anything yet, but the quality seems incredible. The strands are long and strong and resilient, the color is nice, and I expected there to be lots of dust and broken bits in the water after expansion. But there weren't really. So the amounts. When I opened the envelope I didn't expect it to be my moss... so tiny! Like a small paperback. Think Great Gatsby? The thinness seemed like a scam. Then I dipped it in water and was amazed how much bigger it got. Started feeling pretty good about the deal. And also it made an entertaining shape, but that's not interesting without a picture.By then my bowl of water had been almost completely absorbed, so I filled it back up and left the moss the soak for 10 minutes. When I came back, holy moly. It was huge. And instead of a tightly woven brick, it was a nice pliable mass that held itself together, but you could work a chunk out without tearing a ton of strands as well.In the end, this moss just about fills a gallon ziplock when it's good and hydrated. Not like stuffed to the brim - it fit well but the bag looks full. So that's how much moss you get in the 100g package. Almost a gallon.Enjoy!

Nice for orchids
Nice, good stuff for orchids

Great Product - Made 4 Moss Poles.
I only have my my own arrogance to blame for not doing more research and understanding how much product I was buying, but hopefully this review helps prevent someone else from repeating my mistake. If you haven't figured it out already, 100g is not a lot of moss! I didn't realize how tiny this brick would be when I ordered it to make some moss poles. The brick is about the size of a mailing envelope, and when water is added it expands quite a bit. But, it made 4 moss poles. It's also worth noting that this item page does not give you the option to purchase a larger package of moss, even though the product image depicts several larger bricks. If you want to order larger bricks, you need to search Amazon for sphagnum moss again and find the larger product size yourself. (Kind of a hassle, but whatever.)Happy planting. :)Update:The moss fluffed up perfectly with only a few loose pieces of twigs/straw. Overall, this is a pretty good value given the price of New Zealand moss and other moss pole supplies vs buying a pre-made pole.

New Zealand Sphagnum Moss from Besgrow
After a lot of research across the Net, Sphagnum moss is the method and the moss experienced orchid growers recommend to those of us without experience for repotting our orchids. I started out by bringing a large bowl of water to a boil then dropping a chunk of the spagmoss brick into the bowl. I gently separated the strands with a fork as it grew. You can probably skip boiling the water, one of the things I learned is there are microscopic organisms that can survive the drying process, if you are immune compromised or have lung disease you are susceptible to this infection either by inhaling or if it enters your system through a small cut. They recommend gloves, soaking in boiling water and taking care not to inhale the particles in the moss dust. I left the moss in the water overnight to insure it was cooled completely and proceeded from there. I love the nice, clean look of the new moss that can be seen on top of the planter. My orchid looks happy in her new home.I am very satisfied with this purchase and I would recommend you try Spagmoss if it is time to repot your lovely plant. If you only have one or two orchids you probably don’t want to store a big bale of moss. By purchasing this small brick you only re-wet the amount you plan on using. Just a little goes a long way and you always have fresh moss on hand. Store the brick in the wrapper it came in, in an air tight storage bag or Tupperware type container.

Could be 4 stars but...
I only received 80 grams worth and I ordered the 100 grams. Don't know if this is always the case or I just got shorted as this was my first order. If appropriate amount is received I would give it 4 stars. It is better quality than others but not as good a quality as, well at least one other brand I know of. For the quality I received with many sticks and twigs in it, it is a tad overpriced. I still might order one more time in the future to see if my batch was a fluke.
