Q: Is this compatible with other laptops from other manufacturers? particularly the asus fx502vm.

I am not an expert but I don't see any reason why it would not work. I have (2) Monitors and my laptop that will work at the same time (as another monitor if I choose) and can also charge my phone and plug in my Passport external Hard Drive and have room between the USB 3.0 and my laptop to plug in my remote keyboard and mouse. I like it.

Q: I use a Dell Inspiron13-7353 with Windows 10 Pro. I think the dock is causing my settings pane to force open which is very annoying. Any insights?

Unfortunately I don't. I'm also using Win 10 Pro with my Surface & am not seeing this. I wonder if it keeps trying to scale your external monitors to your laptop's screen?

Q: I have a dell vostro 3446 with fedora os. (linux). would this docking station (dell d1000) work?

For me, it did not work 100% of the time on Windows. It worked far less on a Mac. I did not try Linux but it’s a crapshoot I’d say.
