Motley Crue: Carnival of Sins [DVD]

The Crue still rocks the stage!
This DVD is awesome! I thought all band members appeared as if they tried to put 100% in this concert. I noticed no tension among them at all. They were all enthusiastic and the music rocked...making me wish I could have been there. Tommy Lee put 110% in this, playing drums like only he can and having a great time. Nikki had some great moments of dialogue with the audience and awesome playing, Mick can still rock despite his health issues, and Vince played the crowd well. I thought he let the audience sing a bit too much of his lines, we want to hear HIM, but I think he was just caught up in the energy from the audience and wanted to include them as much as possible. The Grand Rapids audience was really into the show. The cameras tended to focus on alot of the same ppl in the audience (anyone else notice how MUCH they showed the blonde girl reaching for Vince?) I didnt paticularly like the grainy scenes when they talked to the audience or had breaks, because you couldnt make it out as clear, but the over-all effect was okay I guess. The special effects were awesome too. So in a nutshell, it's worth the money especially if you are a big Crue fan. It's a good one to have as far as being one good final concert to show a history of the Crue (if this really is a farewell tour.) I'm glad I have it in my collection. They promised a new album if fans want it so I hope they get really good reviews. I think they have the potential to stay together if everyone can put personal issues aside and think of the fans. They genuinely appear to want to make it work. Good luck, Motley Crue I hope you will continue to rock together for many more years, and if by chance this is not possible, thanks for giving us an awesome final tour!!

WOW!!
Based on what I have seen and heard this LOOKS and SOUNDS fantastic. Yeah, the camera shots are active and change fast... but much of the concert is packed with toughness and adrenaline, it actually makes some sense that the shots match it in being active as well. Sound-wise, this is the best the Crue have ever sounded live... this looks to me like a must own DVD. If you are looking for a DVD to give you an example of suspect quality... check out the new Twisted Sister one... now that one looks and sounds cheap and sloppy. This one looks like a gem... the only negative I see is its not out for another 2 months. Final thoughts, boy is it good having Tommy back... the drumming is excellent and it really adds so much to the songs. Vince is sounding better than he has in 20 years... and the guitar sound on this DVD is monsterously good... compare it to the Lewd Crued and Tatooed DVD of a few years back and you will really see how much better this version is!!! Its nice to see another band and not just KISS putting on a show that is actually worthy of the price of modern concert tickets.

The concert I wish I would have gotten in 14
This was recorded in Grand Rapids Michigan in 2005 in support of the 2005 Red, White and Crue Greatest Hits compilation. The Crue puts on a great show here, Vince sounds like he should, and he is in shape for a rock concert here. He doesn’t sing all the lyrics like he should but overall, at least he sounds good. This is worlds different from when I saw them in 14, at the exact same venue on their “final” tour. Carnival of Sins is a great concert, as someone from Grand Rapids and a fan of music I approve of the DVD. Wish this was the show I would have gotten 9 years later.

The best Crue video there is!
In 2005 all the original members of Motley Crue reunited for a highly successful tour as documented on this Bluray release. Carnival of Sins captures one of these concerts as well as you can on video. I caught this show at the All State Arena in Rosemont, IL in March of 2005 and again in February 2006 at Roberts Stadium in Evansville, IN and I was as blown away buy this disc as I was at both shows. Everyone is firing on all cylinders, even Vince, who doesn't always handle the vocals that great, but here he is in top form. All the hits are played as well as many fan favorites from Too Fast for Love and Shout at the Devil. Yes this disc is rated R and has foul language and nudity. What do you expect, this is a Motley Crude concert.

Great if you know what to expect
I really enjoyed this concert, but I knew some things in advance based on other reviews here. I'll summarize:- The surround is not very good. I recommend listening in stereo or 2.0, sounds great, and concerts are mixed in 2.0 in the arena anyway.- They do the "MTV cut to a new angle every second". Just ignore that.- The first chapter is a complete waste of time, skip it.- I haven't watched the extras, so I can't comment. I've got no time for that!Their great playing and great guitar sound makes this a worthy purchase.

DVD OF 2005!!!!!!
Finally Motley Crue are going to release the 'live' DVD fans have been waiting for!!! Original line up back together doing what they do best! The Crue are renowned for their massive, elaborate stage shows...with heaps of pyro and barely dressed girls. The DVD is titled 'Carnival of sins' and the whole show has a circus theme to it.......but with the 18 year old restriction it aint one for the minors! This DVD will be a far cry from the 'Lewd Crued and Tattooed' disc they released a few years back.I know some people have rasied concerns about the footage.....but if you read the reviews for the DVD KISS 'symphony' there were people who bagged the disc has having shocking editing problems with the picture flicking rapidly from shot to shot, however when I picked up the DVD it was awesome!!! and I couldn't see a reason for the criticism!!Motley Crue in my opinion would have to be one of the greatest live bands in history!!!!I wish they had of filmed and released a show from Dr Feelgood tour!!! Now, however, we get the best tour since then!!There are a couple of unknowns for me with this DVD.......1. Is this a double as I heard it was????2. Please put heaps of special features as fans are wanting all that extra stuff I am sure!Buy this DVD if you want to see a rock concert the likes of which have not been seen in a long long time!!Motley Crue rock!!!!!!!!!
